We have a generous holiday package; plus the opportunity to buy more, great pension schemes and a number of health and wellbeing initiatives to support you.</span></p> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Closing Date: 18 August 2026</span></p> <p> </p><p> </p> <p><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt"><strong>The Role</strong></span></p> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt">The purpose of the role is to support growth, capacity, and capability in academic primary care with a particular focus on underserved areas for example within the Deep End GP network in collaboration with Public Health.</span></p> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt">The three NHS shifts into the community represents a timely opportunity for primary care and public health to grow research in wider care settings together to support the clinical teams to deliver the “neighbourhood health” agenda. However, recruitment to research in more deprived populations tends to be lower and even more significantly lower in “Deep End” practices. Further, those from socioeconomically disadvantaged populations tend to be under-represented in research, which can further exacerbate health inequalities. With the growing maturity of our Deep End networks, primary care academic workforce and public health expertise in the region, this role enables builds on this to develop academic and research capacity within the Deep End network.</span></p> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt"><strong>Training, Support, and Development</strong></span></p> <ul> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt">You will have the opportunity to receive Masters level training with a training plan developed at the start of the role</span></li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt">You will be mentored and receive support from experienced senior primary care (Dr Eugene Tang) and public health (Dr. Sarah Sowden) clinical academics with the aim of developing their own research interests, experiences and skills in primary care research</span></li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt">You will be supported by and be part of an emerging group of clinical academics as a member of the Academic Primary and Community Care Unit (APCCU) and will have the opportunity to work alongside Public Health colleagues in this role. Expertise:</strong></span></p> <ul> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt">Develop academic skills around research from design to delivery in underserved areas such as the Deep End</span></li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt">Develop a research proposal which includes an orientation towards addressing health and care inequalities, and consider socioeconomically disadvantaged and marginalised (Deep End) communities</span></li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt">Develop own research area of interest with the aim of applying for further funding opportunities such as a NIHR Pre-Doctoral Fellowship</span></li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10.0pt"><strong>Engagement &amp;
