<p>The HPC Jobs Service supports local people into exciting, long-term careers across our Project.</p> <p style="text-align:center"><strong>M&amp;E Engineer - Electrical</strong><br><strong>Mactech</strong><br><strong>Hinkley Point C</strong></p> <p><br>EDF Energy&apos;s ambition is to construct and operate up to 2 new nuclear plants (pairs of EPRs) in the UK, the first of which is at Hinkley Point C (HPC), in Somerset.</p> <p><br>The Joint Design Office (JDO) has been created to reinforce the HPC site-based engineering to quickly respond to engineering queries and problems coming from site construction, to deliver the schedule and to deliver an increased scope of work. A primary benefit of this organisation is to save time for construction on site by having reactive answers and solutions to pursue their activities.</p> <p><br><strong>Vacancy Overview</strong></p> <p><br>Reporting to an Engineering Lead within the Review &amp; Acceptance Branch of the JDO, the post-holder will be an Electrical Engineer, contributing to the review and acceptance of engineering queries raised by the site Contractor on the electrical scope across the CI/BOP and Nuclear Island buildings.</p> <p><br>The role will be focused on the electrical discipline but will be interfaced with other disciplines and with several parties, such the site Contractors (composed of main suppliers and sub-suppliers), Construction teams, Quality teams, Project Management teams, or Design teams (embedded within the JDO organisation on site, or in back office).</p> <p><br><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p> <p><br>Responding to General Queries, Non-Conformances, Change Request, and Exemption Requests originating from the MEH Contractor on site, with the support of the Responsible Designer or site Experts when needed.<br>Provide adequate oversight to ensure the Nuclear Safety and Environmental Regulation requirements are met.<br>Challenge design decisions so that engineering and design aligns with the project strategy.<br>Assist in co-ordinating support from other external organisations.<br>Contribute to the resolution and closure of Open Points.<br>Assess technical risk and subsequently address this risk.<br>Maintain a strong relationship with EDF EPR Engineering (Responsible Designer)<br>Report operationally to an Engineering Lead.</p> <p><br><strong>The Skills</strong></p> <p><br>Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.<br>Experience in electrical design, installation and/or commissioning.<br>Experience applying multi-disciplinary technical knowledge within the nuclear industry.<br>Knowledge of the construction / installation industry.<br>Knowledge of Health &amp; Safety legislation including CDM and Nuclear Site License requirements.<br>Experience in the understanding of welding engineering.<br>Ability to influence a diverse range of stakeholders, particularly those in a site environment.<br>Ability to work independently, be pro-active, report on and escalate relevant issues.</p><p> </p> <p>For this role you must have evidence of right to work in the UK.
