The opportunity The purpose of this role is to ensure the effective and timely implementation and coordination of an Education pilot project funded by Akelius Foundation and implemented by Plan International Nigeria in Kano State. Key Responsibilities <ul style="text-align:justify"> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Ensures proper stewardship of Plan International Nigeria resources and adherence to donor, organizational, and government policies and regulations.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Coordinates implementation of the project in accordance with approved workplans, budgets, donor agreements, and implementation timelines.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Develops and maintains detailed implementation plans, activity trackers, and milestone monitoring tools.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Monitors implementation progress and ensures timely delivery of project outputs and deliverables.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Coordinates project inception, review meetings, quarterly learning meetings, and project close-out activities.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Monitors monthly expenditure, Budget versus Actual (BvA) reports, and burn rates to ensure spending remains on track.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Coordinates monthly project review meetings and follows up on agreed action points.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Supports financial forecasting and budget revisions where necessary.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Coordinates deployment, utilization, and monitoring of Akelius devices and digital learning resources across participating learning centres.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Coordinates learner orientation, facilitator training, coaching, mentoring, and technical support activities.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Coordinates implementation of project monitoring, evaluation, research, and learning (MERL) activities, including baseline, periodic assessments, and endline.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Documents lessons learned, best practices, innovations, and success stories throughout project implementation.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Coordinates stakeholder engagement with Akelius Foundation, Plan International Sweden, FMoE, UBEC, NERDC, Kano State Ministry of Education, SAME, SANE, LGEAs, and community structures.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Ensures timely preparation and submission of quality monthly, quarterly, and donor reports.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Coordinates closely with Finance, Supply Chain, MERL, Safeguarding, Communications, and Programme Support teams to ensure effective project implementation.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Supports identification and management of implementation risks and ensures mitigation measures are implemented.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Ensures safeguarding, gender equality, disability inclusion, and accountability principles are integrated across all project activities.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Represents Plan International Nigeria at technical meetings, review sessions, and stakeholder engagements related to the project.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Performs any other project-related duties as assigned by the Supervisor</li> </ul> Safeguarding The Project Coordinator shall: <ul style="text-align:justify"> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Commit and contribute to an environment where children and programme participants feel respected, supported, safe and protected;</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Never act or behave in a manner that results in violence against a child or programme participant or places a child or programme participant at risk of violence;</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Be aware of and adhere to the provisions of the Global Safeguarding Policy and Safeguarding Code of Conduct including the PII Prevention of Sexual Harassment Exploitation and Abuse Policy in public and private life; and:</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Report and respond to safeguarding concerns and breaches of the policies immediately in line with the applicable procedures of Plan International Nigeria.</li> </ul> And ensure that: <ul style="text-align:justify"> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Children, programme participants and communities with whom we engage, work or are in contact are made aware of the provisions of the Safeguarding and PSHEA Policies to ensure they have the confidence and ability to report any incidents occurring against children and programme participants;</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Staff, Associates, and Visitors are aware of the Safeguarding Implementation Standards that are applicable to their role or engagement with us and manage performance accordingly;</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">She/he supports and develops systems which maintain an environment which is safe for and prevents violence against children and programme participants;</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Departmental/functional procedures and guidelines are adapted to incorporate Safeguarding and PSHEA measures described in Business Standards: Designing and Delivering Safe Programmes and Influencing Work.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Ensure risk assessments are routinely conducted for departmental/functional initiatives and mitigation measures applied in line with the standard “Identifying and Managing Safeguarding and SHEA Risks”.</li> </ul> About You We are looking to recruit person(s) with; <ul style="text-align:justify"> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Strong knowledge and experience in project coordination and implementation of education programmes.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Proven planning, budgeting, implementation tracking, and project management skills.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Strong ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, coordinate multiple activities, and meet deadlines.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Bachelor's degree in Education, Project Management, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or related field.
