Main duties of the job

Strategic Leadership and Organisational Development Provide visible, values-driven leadership to TyneHealth. Develop and deliver organisational strategy aligned to local needs and NHS priorities. Build organisational capability, governance and culture to support sustainable growth, innovation and continuous improvement. Lead organisational change and workforce development.

Commissioning, Service Delivery and Transformation Lead the development of commissioning, contracting and provider capability. Oversee contract performance, quality, finance, risk and regulatory compliance. Deliver transformation programmes that improve quality, access, productivity and outcomes, using data, evidence and innovation to drive service redesign.

Population Health and Partnership Working Lead the development of integrated neighbourhood models of care that improve population health and reduce inequalities. Build strong partnerships with commissioners, Primary Care Networks, NHS providers, local authorities, public health and voluntary sector organisations to develop sustainable services and influence future neighbourhood health.

Financial and Corporate Governance Ensure effective financial management, commercial development, organisational sustainability and robust governance. Lead business case development, identify growth opportunities, manage risk and provide assurance to the Board on organisational performance, compliance and strategic delivery.

TyneHealth was founded in 2006 and became the North Tyneside GP Federation in 2014, representing all of the practices in North Tyneside.

Together with our GP members, we deliver improved health care in the community to over 215,000 residents, by bringing care closer to patients homes.

We work in partnership with commissioners, local hospitals, the third sector and our patients to provide community based, medically-led services.

Job description Job responsibilities

The Managing Director will provide strategic and operational leadership to TyneHealth at a pivotal point in the development of neighbourhood-based models of care across the NHS.

Working with GP practices, primary care networks, commissioners, providers, local authority partners and wider system stakeholders, the Managing Director will lead the development of TyneHealth as a high-performing, sustainable and system-facing organisation capable of delivering improved outcomes for the population of North Tyneside.

The postholder will provide the leadership, commissioning expertise and organisational capability required to support TyneHealths evolution within the emerging neighbourhood health landscape, including future models such as Multispecialty Neighbourhood Providers (MNPs) and Integrated Health Organisations (IHOs).

Person Specification

Experience Essential

Strategic Leadership and Healthcare Experience- Significant senior leadership experience within a complex healthcare, NHS, or public sector environment. Proven experience operating at executive or senior leadership level. Demonstrable success leading strategy, transformation, and operational delivery. Experience influencing and working effectively with senior clinical, operational and system leaders. NHS Commissioning and Contract Management- Strong understanding of NHS commissioning, provider models and the relationship between commissioners and delivery organisations. Experience developing, managing, or assuring complex healthcare contracts. Ability to establish robust approaches to: contract management performance improvement quality assurance financial oversight risk management Understanding of the changing NHS landscape and emerging neighbourhood-based models of care. Transformation and Service Redesign- Proven experience leading complex change and transformation programmes. Ability to translate strategic objectives into practical delivery plans. Experience designing and implementing new models of care. Strong understanding of integrated care, population health management, and prevention approaches. Population Health and Partnership Working- Experience using intelligence, insight, and evidence to improve services and outcomes. Experience working across organisational boundaries to deliver system-wide change. Ability to build trusted relationships with clinicians, commissioners, providers, and community partners. Financial and Commercial Capability- Strong financial management experience, including managing significant budgets and resources. Understanding sustainable service models, business development, and partnership opportunities. Ability to balance commercial opportunity with NHS values and population outcomes. Leadership Style and Behaviours- A collaborative and inclusive leader who builds trust and creates shared purpose. Ability to operate effectively in complex, ambiguous and changing environments. Strong communication and influencing skills. Demonstrable commitment to improving health outcomes and reducing inequalities.

Desirable

Experience within primary care, GP federation, PCN or neighbourhood provider environments. Experience developing new NHS organisational models or provider arrangements. Experience of Integrated Care Systems and place-based working. Experience working with local government and public health partners. Experience of digital transformation and using data-driven approaches to improve care delivery. Relevant postgraduate qualification or evidence of equivalent senior leadership development
