Join our friendly and supportive Inpatient Unit team, providing outstanding palliative and end-of-life care to patients and families when they need it most. We're looking for a compassionate Healthcare Assistant with experience in healthcare, care homes, hospitals or community care who is passionate about delivering person-centred care.
Hours: 36 hours per week over 7 days (predominantly nights with occasional day shifts). Part-time hours considered.

Main duties of the job
As a Healthcare Assistant, you will support the delivery of compassionate, individualised care to patients with life-limiting illnesses, helping to maintain comfort, dignity and quality of life.
Working closely with our nursing and multidisciplinary teams, you will:
Deliver high-quality, compassionate patient care.
Follow personalised care plans and report changes in patients' conditions. Support patients and families with empathy and sensitivity.
Help maintain a safe, calm and welcoming environment.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to provide outstanding care.
You'll work flexibly across our inpatient unit and community services to meet patient needs.

About us
Prospect Hospice is an independent hospice supporting a community of 300,000 people in Swindon, Marlborough and North Wiltshire, and the villages of Lechlade and Fairford in Gloucestershire.
It is the only dedicated provider of specialist end of life care services within it's locality. The Hospices multi-professionals teams support people in the community, in care homes, at the Great Western Hospital and at the Hospice in Wroughton. Care is also extended to the families and friends of patients.
Job description Job responsibilities
A Health Care Assistant on the In-patient Unit is required to assist in the provision of holistic care to patients and their families. By working closely with and supporting the trained nursing staff to identify individual needs and tailor care accordingly.
There is also a requirement to work shifts in the community and work flexibly across both teams as needed.
Do you have?
NVQ Level 2 in Care/Care Certificate (or willingness to work towards).
A compassionate, caring approach and a genuine desire to support patients and families.
Able to communicate sensitively with people during difficult times.
The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
A willingness to learn, reflect and develop your skills.

Personal Qualities Essential
Commitment to and ability to demonstrate Prospect Hospice values and behaviours at all times. Have a track record of working inclusively and a genuine appreciation of the value of diversity. Able to maintain the highest professional standards at all times, and act as a true ambassador for the Hospice and encourage others to do the same.
Qualifications Essential
Level 2 diploma in Adult Care in care or willingness to undertake. Care Certificate (or willingness to complete in probationary period).
Desirable
Good standard of education in maths and English. Level 3 diploma in Adult Care.
Experience Essential
Able to demonstrate an understanding of the importance of boundaries in relationships with patients and their families. Able to demonstrate an understanding of the importance of developing ways to sustain coping, including use of support and supervision to maintain personal resilience.
Desirable
Understanding and experience of the role of the Health Care Assistant.
Skills Essential
Good communication skills. Able to plan and manage own workload and activities.
Desirable
Commitment to developing skills and knowledge of the care of the dying person and family. Good awareness of own limitations, and able to recognise the need for onward referral.
