Are you an enthusiastic and skilled Specialist Doctor looking for a rewarding opportunity to deliver exceptional clinical care in a dynamic, evolving Acute Medicine Department. Then this is your chance to join our SDEC Acute Medicine team at Warrington Hospital, a busy District General Hospital providing pragmatic, high-quality care to a diverse Northwest population.
Key Details:
Position: Specialist Doctor in Medical SDEC (Acute Medicine). Post open to GP's. Hours: Full-time (we are flexible and would consider part-time applications) Requirements: Applicants must be on the GMC Register, have a Primary Medical Degree and extensive experience in the assessment of adult ambulatory patients attending with medical presentations. Desired attributes include being on the GMC GP Register, Higher Medical Qualifications or having additional qualifications in leadership or medical education. We welcome applications from GPs that are looking to explore and develop skills in Emergency Medicine outside the General Practice environment.
Main duties of the job
As a Specialist Doctor in Medical SDEC at Warrington, you'll be expected to assess, diagnose, investigate and manage ambulatory Medical patients attending the SDEC area as referred by the GP or the Emergency Department.
When you're not engaged in clinical duties, you'll enjoy dedicated time for Supporting Professional Activities (SPA) with access to training rooms and our UEC Simulation Suite. There's also the opportunity to actively engage in teaching and mentoring for our junior medical team.
This role also offers the opportunity to oversee governance within SDEC while designing innovative patient pathways and policies aimed at enhancing efficiency, quality and overall excellence in the SDEC service.

The Department has just been involved in the RCEM Back to Basics Pilot Study and our quality improvement projects have previously been recognized as finalists at the prestigious HSJ National Patient Safety Awards, earning us additional funding to further enhance patient care. We also regularly partake in the national Society of Acute Medicine Benchmarking Audit.

Experience Essential
oExtensive experience of managing unwell adults and children in an emergency medicine setting since primary medical qualification. oAbility to demonstrate the skills, knowledge, and qualities to work as a senior clinician (e.g., by portfolio or supporting assessments and testimonies from the previous departments worked). oMinimum 12 years postgraduate medical experience and a minimum of 6 years in Emergency Medicine.
