Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and motivated individuals to join the DXA Team at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust. The department offers a supportive and encouraging environment in which to develop as a professional.

This is a varied and dynamic role in which Band 6 DXA Radiographers/Technicians are responsible for performing bone density scans and producing high quality reports for referred patients.

We are seeking to recruit two experienced Band 6 Radiographers/Technicians, one for a full time position (37.5 hours per week) and one for a part time position (22.5 hours per week).

Main duties of the job

1. To undertake a clinical role using highly developed skills to produce high quality DXA images in line with departmental protocol whilst maintaining excellent standards in patient care.

2. To be responsible for the day to day running of the DXA department alongside the other DXA Radiographers, this will encompass organisation of the work load, justify the examinations and ensure accurate data entry on RIS.

3. Accurate production of DXA reports, working within departmental guidelines for treatment recommendations

4. Annual audit of Reports to evidence accuracy and consistency within the DXA reporting team.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

DCRR / BSc in Radiography or equivalent HCPC registration or equivalent Certificate of Competence in Bone Densitometry Evidence of on-going professional development

Desirable

MSc or equivalent post graduate training in Bone Densitometry reporting

Knowledge Essential

A sound knowledge of radiographic clinical practice and radiation safety Knowledge of QA and audit programmes Understand the use of DXA in identifying osteoporosis Ensure reliable scan data are recorded to inform a diagnosis and decisions around treatment Understand the importance/findings of other diagnostic tests /symptoms that may influence the DXA results/findings.

Skills Essential

To work within their scope of professional practice, ensuring DXA scans are undertaken and reported in a safe and competent manner. Ability to work using own initiative or as a part of a team Participate in clinical audit to improve the service for staff and patients. Works to a high degree of accuracy

Desirable

To report DXA imaging to a high clinical standard in line with local guidelines and national guidance.

Experience Essential

Ability to independently scan Contribute to the education, training, and professional development with the DXA team

Desirable

Proven experience interpreting DXA scans and providing evidence-based treatment recommendations Team leader, able to build and maintain an efficient and effective team

Other Essential

Able to fulfil Occupational Health requirements for the post
