About this role

Job summary

We are seeking applications from a motivated individual to join the Clinical Science & Engineering team, as a Rehabilitation Engineering Technician on a one-year fixed term contract to cover maternity leave.

Main duties of the job

The job holder will:

Support the multidisciplinary Medical Engineering team Apply technical skills to support wheelchair & special seating clinics Manufacture of bespoke seatingand rehabilitation aids using the mechanical workshop Carry out wheelchair maintenance and repair Predominantly the service operates from the purpose-built Medical Engineering facility, but there would be a requirement to travel to satellite clinics.

The ideal candidate:

Flexible & professional Good hand-eye coordination with practical problem-solving skills Good communication and teamwork skills Empathetic to our patients and service users Good customer service Applications would be considered at a lower banding if criteria for qualifications or experience are not met. This is a full-time post but reduced hours will be considered for the right candidate.

Knowledge & skills Essential

Ability perform practical problem solving and fault finding Ability to organise and priorities allocated work load

Knowledge & Skills Essential

Principles of mechanical workshop practice & materials with appropriate Health and safety Good Hand to Eye Coordination Ability to interpret engineering drawings & sketches

Experience Essential

Mechanical Engineering workshop practice including metal work and wood working skills Providing good customer service and team working

Desirable

Experience working in a clinical setting with patients

Qualifications Essential

City & Guilds/Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent work based experience. Score 1 if Level 2 qualifications only)

Knowledge & Skills Essential

Good written & verbal communication skills Computer Literate to a good standard

Knowledge & Skills Essential

Current & clean driving licence
