We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Psychologist to join our Mental Health Team at HMP Belmarsh located in London.

HMP Belmarsh is a maximum security prison for males with a capacity of 773 inmates. There are good transport links and free parking on site.

We are recruiting for someone that has at least 1 years experience within a paid Assistant Psychologist role in a forensic or secure environment. As this role is based within a prison, it is very fast paced and candidate needs to be flexible. Hours

Monday - Friday

0800 - 1600 (potential for some flexibility) Salary

This position is full time, youll receive an annual salary of up to £36,151 per annum.

Main duties of the job

As an Assistant Psychologist your responsibilities will vary. You will:

To support and enhance the professional psychological care of patients within the service/ team, across all pathways, providing psychological assessment and psychological interventions. To work under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologist working independently, where appropriate, according to a plan agreed with the clinical supervisor and within the overall framework of the organizations policies and procedures. To assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work. This role will involve being fully integrated within the patients journey during their sentence and meeting their needs at different points in time from reception to release planning. As such you will take on an active role within supporting patients under your care within the Assessment Care in Custody Teamwork (ACCT) process and contribute towards the Challenge, Support and Intervention Plan (CSIP). Qualifications, skills and experience required:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology; Experience of working with mental health forensic populations Experience of providing evidence based psychological interventions to adults with a range of mental health problems Knowledge of evidenced based psychological therapies relevant to managing mental health distres Secure environments are one of the most challenging, yet rewarding places for healthcare professionals to work.
