We have an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Support Worker to join our Mental Health team at HMP Winchester, a category B Prison located in Winchester

HMP Winchester is a busy male remand prison based in Winchester with a capacity for 650 inmates. There is free parking on site and close to the town centre. We are welcoming applications from candidates that have experience within healthcare and have a willingness to learn and want to pursue a career within Mental Health. Hours

Monday - Friday

0800 - 1600 Salary

This position is full time, youll receive an annual salary up to £30,684 per annum.

Main duties of the job As a Mental Health Support Worker, your responsibilities will vary. You will

Provide a holistic and individualised approach to care and improve the lives of people with mental ill health by minimising the impact of their condition through the delivery of excellent services and promoting recovery. You will provide evidence based interventions within the Practice Plus Group health care wellbeing model. Deliver triage of patients and using decision support systems, refer for a GP or Nurse Consultation as necessary. You will contribute to the care and documentation (ACCT) required for those individuals being at risk of self-harm or suicide as per prison policy and undertake patient risk assessments and take appropriate professional action when the nature of behaviour, symptoms or illness are likely to lead to self-harm or injury to others If you are interested in career development, we have a wide range of opportunities for you to develop your skills and experience, which include both internal and external options for development and learning.

Willingness to undertake training in mental health awareness, suicide, self harm and ACCT procedures as well as health promotion and screening. Previous experience as a mental health support worker.
