Job summary
A new opportunity has arisen for a part-time Phlebotomist to join our Nursing team. We are looking to appoint an experienced Phlebotomist who is clinically skilled with general blood taking to work alongside our current Phlebotomist, providing appointments Monday - Friday.
You will be responsible for performing venepuncture safely and efficiently, always prioritising patient comfort and experience. Your role will contribute to the effective day-to-day running of the practice and the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Main duties of the job
The key element of this role is the taking, collecting and storing samples of blood in accordance with training and procedures.
You will have undertaken phlebotomy training and have recent experience in blood taking. You will also be a team player with excellent communication and organisational skills, a positive attitude and commitment to General Practice and the NHS.

Blood Sample Collection: Carry out venepuncture in line with clinical guidelines to obtain blood samples safely and efficiently. Patient Care and Comfort: Support patients throughout the process, helping them feel at ease and responding appropriately to any concerns or anxiety. Sample Handling: Accurately label, store, and prepare samples for transport to the laboratory, ensuring full compliance with procedures. Infection Prevention and Safety: Adhere to infection control standards, including safe disposal of sharps and maintaining a clean clinical environment. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and timely records of patient information, requested tests, and samples within the clinical system. Stock Control: Monitor and restock phlebotomy supplies to ensure equipment is always available. Team Working: Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, and administrative staff to support effective patient care and service delivery. Professional Development: Keep knowledge up to date with best practice and attend training as required.

Qualifications Essential
Educated to GCSE level or equivalent Qualification in Phlebotomy Training in Infection Control
