About this role

Job summary

To contribute to the delivery of the Radiology Service at an operational level as required across the different sites of Bristol NHS Foundation Trust.

Produce high quality, optimised images across the spectrum of examinations undertaken in the allocated department.

Participate in the provision of the 24-hour 7 day per week service, including on call within all departments and have a flexible attitude to working hours commensurate with the needs of the service.

To support assistant practitioners and learners rostered to the allocated department.

To ensure the smooth operation of the Radiology Service.

Ensure a patient centred approach and be responsible for the standards of care provided within the allocated department.

Promote education and training within the allocated department and across radiology.

To adhere to the Trust Values

Keep up-to-date competency records.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

BSc Radiography or DCR or other recognised equivalent radiography qualification Registration with HCPC

Skills & Experience Essential

H&S regulations relating to radiation protection (including IRMER regulations) Computer skills for patient data and image manipulation for digital modalities PC skills, image appreciation (visual recognition of contrast, sharpness, resolution), ability to estimate distances accurately Ability to use radiology information system to access and alter patient and examination data Ability to prioritise workflow through imaging rooms according to clinical needs of patients and to prioritise the needs of different hospital areas Experience of general and trauma plain imaging, with knowledge of a wide variety of all imaging techniques Experience of mobile, theatre and screening work High level communication skills Adaptable Able to work as team member and on own initiative Assertive Confident in dealing with patients of all types, including difficult patient types

Desirable

Ability to prioritise different categories of patients Ability to prioritise work of assistants and students Manual handling and basic resuscitation Ability to communicate diagnostic information seen on images to colleagues
