Engineering Supervisor - Single-Use Systems

Als Engineering Supervisor - Single-Use Systems stuur je het Design Engineering team aan en ben je verantwoordelijk voor de ontwikkeling van zowel standaard productplatformen als klantgerichte maatwerkoplossingen, zoals mixers, buffermanagementsystemen en filtratiesystemen. Je combineert technische expertise met people management, projectleiding en procesverbetering. Je rapporteert rechtstreeks aan de Engineering Manager en werkt nauw samen met collega's van Commercial, Customer Service, Productie, Quality en R&D.

Wat ga je doen? Leidinggeven & Teamontwikkeling

• Aansturen, coachen en ontwikkelen van een team van Mechanical Design Engineers en Automation Engineers. • Stellen van prioriteiten en doelstellingen binnen het team. • Creëren van een cultuur van samenwerking, eigenaarschap, innovatie en continue verbetering. • Ondersteunen van de professionele groei van teamleden.

Engineering & Projectmanagement

• Leiding geven aan de ontwikkeling van standaard Single-Use Systems en klant-specifieke oplossingen. • Beheren van engineeringprojecten van conceptfase tot validatie en oplevering. • Bewaken van planning, scope, kwaliteit en klantverwachtingen. • Coördineren van prototypeontwikkeling, testen en validatieactiviteiten. • Opstellen en onderhouden van technische documentatie, standaarden en projectregistraties.

Continuous Improvement

• Definiëren en monitoren van Engineering KPI's. • Ontwikkelen van rapportages en systemen voor prestatiebewaking. • Leiden van harmonisatie- en verbeterprojecten binnen Engineering. • Bijdragen aan internationale verbeterprogramma's en cross-functionele initiatieven.

Klantcontact & Commerciële Ondersteuning

• Ondersteunen van commerciële teams bij business development activiteiten. • In gesprek gaan met klanten om technische uitdagingen te begrijpen en passende oplossingen te ontwikkelen. • Bijdragen aan kostprijsberekeningen en prijsbepaling van Single-Use Systems. • Ondersteunen bij technische onderzoeken, klachtenafhandeling en corrigerende maatregelen.

Samenwerking binnen de Organisatie

• Vertegenwoordigen van Systems Engineering in organisatiebrede projecten. • Intensief samenwerken met Productie, Quality, R&D, Sales, Marketing en Supply Chain. • Beoordelen van technische haalbaarheid, ontwerpvereisten en kosteneffectiviteit van nieuwe producten en projecten.

Wat breng je mee? Opleiding & Ervaring

• HBO-opleiding in Werktuigbouwkunde, Operational Technology of vergelijkbare technische richting. • Alternatief: een combinatie van relevante technische opleiding en praktijkervaring. • 2 tot 5 jaar ervaring binnen engineering, productie of productontwikkeling. • Ervaring als Design Engineer is sterk gewenst. • Minimaal 2 tot 3 jaar leidinggevende ervaring met een team van ten minste drie medewerkers. • Ervaring binnen een GMP-omgeving of andere sterk gereguleerde industrie is een pre.

Technische Kennis

• Ervaring met 2D- en 3D-CAD-software zoals AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor of vergelijkbare programma's. • Kennis van P&ID's (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams). • Ervaring met piping- en fluid management systemen. • Materiaalkennis van RVS, engineering plastics en thermoplastische/elastomere materialen. • Kennis van GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing). • Ervaring met technische documentatie, testen en validatieprocessen.

Engineering Supervisor - Single-Use Systems

Location: Hillegom, Netherlands Travel: Quarterly travel across Europe

About the Role We are looking for an Engineering Supervisor to lead our Design Engineering team and drive the development of innovative Single-Use Hardware System solutions such as mixers, buffer management systems, filtration systems, etc. This role combines technical leadership, people management, project ownership, and continuous improvement initiatives to support the growth of both standard product platforms and custom-engineered customer solutions.

Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, you will oversee a team of Mechanical Design Engineers and Automation Engineers while working closely with Commercial, Customer Service, Production, Quality, and R&D teams. You will play a key role in product development, engineering process improvement, technical documentation, prototype testing, validation activities, and project delivery.

This position is based in Hillegom and requires quarterly travel across Europe to meet with customers, support solution development, and collaborate with key stakeholders.

What You'll Be Doing Team Leadership

• Lead, coach, mentor, and develop a team of Design Engineers. • Set objectives, prioritize workloads, and support professional development. • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Engineering & Project Management

• Manage the development of standard Single-Use System product families and bespoke customer solutions. • Oversee small and large-scale engineering projects from concept through validation and delivery. • Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and aligned with customer and business requirements. • Coordinate prototype development, testing, validation, and implementation activities. • Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, standards, templates, and project records. Process Improvement & Operational Excellence

• Implement and monitor Engineering KPIs to drive performance and customer satisfaction. • Develop activity tracking systems and periodic reporting processes. • Lead engineering harmonization and continuous improvement initiatives. • Contribute to global engineering process development programs and cross-functional working groups.

Customer & Commercial Support

• Partner with commercial teams to support business development activities. • Meet with customers to understand manufacturing challenges and develop tailored technical solutions. • Support pricing activities and cost calculations for Single-Use Systems. • Assist with technical investigations, customer complaints, and corrective actions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Represent Systems Engineering within corporate and cross-functional projects. • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, R&D, Sales, Marketing, and Supply Chain teams. • Assess technical feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and design requirements for new products and projects.

What We're Looking For Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree (HBO) in Mechanical Engineering, Operational Technology, or a related engineering discipline. • Alternatively, a combination of relevant technical education and practical experience. • 2-5 years of experience within engineering, manufacturing, or product development environments. • Previous Design Engineering experience is strongly preferred. • 2-3 years of leadership experience managing a team of at least three employees. • GMP and GDP Principles Experience – Working experience in GMP environments or highly regulated industries is strongly preferred

Technical Skills

• Experience with 2D and 3D CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, DraftSight, or similar. • Understanding of P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams). • Experience with piping / fluid management systems. • Material knowledge of stainless steel, engineering plastics and thermoplastic/elastomeric materials for pharmaceutical industry. • Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing). • Ability to manage technical documentation, testing, and validation activities.
