About this role

Job Requirements Position Summary A sleep technologist under the guidance of the Department Clinical Manager and Medical Director utilizes knowledge and skill at the mid-range level to provide evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders including in center and out of center sleep testing, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, patient care and direct patient education. Minimum Requirements Education

• High School Graduate or Equivalent • Enrolled in a STAR-designated Focused education program OR both a STAR-designated Self-Study education program AND a STAR-designated focused 2 program. Experience

• N/A License/Registration/Certifications

• Must obtain Certified Polysomnographic Sleep Technician certification (CPSGT) within 8 months of date of hire. • Must have and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Preferred Requirements Preferred Education

• Graduate from an education program in polysomnography accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC). CAAHEP and CoARC-accredited programs include stand-alone programs for polysomnography, and add-on programs attached to an electroneurodiagnostic or respiratory care program. Preferred Experience

• 1 year working in healthcare setting Preferred License/Registration/Certifications

• Allied Health Credential listed on the BRPT (Board of Registered Polysomnography Technologist) List of Accepted Allied Health Credentials. Core Job Responsibilities

• Performs applicable sleep tests as ordered by sleep physician and in accordance with AASM clinical guidelines. • Perform appropriate physiological calibrations to ensure proper signals and make required adjustments. • Perform data acquisition while monitoring study-tracing quality to ensure signals are artifact-free. Identify, correct, and document artifact. • Implement appropriate interventions (including actions necessary for patient safety and therapeutic intervention such as positive airway pressure, oxygen administration, etc.). • Perform care in a manner that supports the Standards of Behavior of the organization. • Other duties as assigned.
