Job Purpose
Buyer sources, procures, and manages suppliers for drilling operations to ensure timely, compliant, and cost-effective delivery of materials,
services, and rental equipment that sustain rig uptime and operational continuity.
Responsibilities & Duties
Safety & Compliance Duties
Maintains the highest standards of corporate governance, ensuring that all activities are carried out ethically and in compliance with the
Company’s QHSSE policies, Management System, Zero Tolerance policy, relevant laws, regulations, standards, and industry practices,
and complies with the ADES WAY, rules to live by.
Will be a champion of Safety, providing exemplary leadership and commitment to all safety initiatives within the business.

Will ensure that safety protocols are always adhered to.
End-to-end Purchase Management:
Reviews requisitions for completeness, technical specification alignment, and budget approval before release.
Creates and issues purchase orders with clear scope, delivery terms, incoterms, and acceptance criteria.
Monitors PO lifecycle from issue to closeout and escalate aging POs to stakeholders.
Sourcing and Category Management:
Maintains up-to-date category strategies for consumables, inventory, rental equipment, chemicals, and services.
Runs RFQs rounds for recurring categories; prepare total cost of ownership (TCO) comparisons that include freight, customs, downtime
risk, and rental rates.
Builds and maintains approved supplier lists and alternate supplier sources for critical items to reduce single-source exposure.
Supplier Qualification and Performance Management:
Pre-qualify suppliers against defined technical, commercial, HSE, and local content criteria; manage onboarding checklists and required
certifications.
Implement supplier performance scorecards tracking on-time delivery, quality, corrective action rate, and contract compliance, review
monthly with top vendors.
Leads supplier corrective action requests (SCARs), track root cause analysis, and supervise remediation plans until closure.
Contracting, Negotiation, and Commercial Controls:
Embeds commercial controls such as price-fix, escalation clauses, warranty terms, and liability limits into contracts.
Maintains audit-ready procurement files and commercial justification records for spend over threshold.
Works directly with operations and technical teams to confirm item codes, part numbers, interchangeability, drawing revisions, and RFIs.
Attends weekly operational planning meetings to align supply plans with operations schedules and identify long-lead items early.
Supports change order processing and cost allocation when scope changes occur in the field.
Risk Management and Contingency Planning:
Identifies single-point failures and long-lead critical items; create mitigation plans including strategic stocking, second source qualification,
and local vendor development.
Maintains a contingency parts list and emergency procurement playbook for rapid sourcing during well control events or rig breakdowns.
Monitors geopolitical, trade, and regulatory risks affecting supplier continuity and propose proactive mitigation to procurement leadership.
Continuous Improvement, Reporting, and Compliance:
Drives cost reduction initiatives through vendor consolidation, volume agreements, and process standardization; quantify savings and
update category baselines.
Maintains monthly procurement dashboards showing PO status, lead time trends, vendor performance, and risk heat maps for operations
and procurement leadership.
Enforces compliance with company procurement policy, HSE standards, local content rules, and any client-specific procurement
requirements; support internal and external audits.
Training and Stakeholder Enablement:
Coaches’ operations personnel on proper requisition practices, specification writing, and supplier selection to improve purchase quality.
Develops quick reference guides for emergency procurement, rental booking, and documentation checklists used by field staff.
Provides handover notes and procurement support during rig mobilization and demobilization phases
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in, Business Administration, supply chain management, or logistics from any reputable university.
Minimum 2-4 years as a procurement specialist, expeditor, or similar role, preferably in the Oil & Gas field.
