Our offerings give you the opportunity to:</p> <ul> <li>Earn competitive weekly pay</li> <li>Gain hands-on experience on real projects</li> <li>Develop in-demand skills through mentorship and PCL’s College of Construction</li> <li>Build connections through inclusive student events and networking events</li> <li>Follow clear career pathways to full-time roles — more than 150 students hired last year</li> <li>Access medical, dental and vision benefits with no waiting period</li> <li>Receive mental health and wellness support, including Employee Assistance Program</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p>Join us as a <strong>Communications Student</strong><strong> </strong>for our <strong>Ottawa</strong> district, within our <strong>Canadian Buildings </strong>sector for <strong>4 months starting in August 2026.</strong> Depending on your assigned project as a <strong>Communications Student</strong>, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our team by:</p> <p> </p><div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:14.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px"><b>Responsibilities</b></H2> </div><div><ul> <li>Assists with writing and editing for a range of print and electronic communications products<em>; </em>creates content for our intranet <em>PCL Connects </em>and internet <em>PCL.com</em>; researches and writes on feature stories for PCL.com.</li> <li>Works with our communications specialist to develop/prepare messaging and content for regional and international communications.</li> <li>Works with our communications specialist to support community involvement initiatives and campaigns.</li> <li>Supports the creation and maintenance of District staff photography files.</li> <li>Assists with writing and editing material for conferences and events.</li> <li>Captures and organizes photography for ads, social media, and other marketing materials.</li> <li>Assists in developing branded materials based on PCL’s visual identity (e.g., brochures and infographics).</li> <li>Works collaboratively with our communications specialist and events planner to develop videos on a variety of topics.</li> <li>Performs multiple projects effectively in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.</li> <li>Assists with filing and organizing of resources within Marketing & Communications environment.</li> <li>Organizes reports/presentations/marketing documentation.</li> <li>Assists in preparing and developing marketing tools.</li> </ul></div></div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:14.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px"><b>Qualifications</b></H2> </div><div><ul> <li>Working towards a degree or diploma in a communications-related field (communications, public relations, marketing, etc.).</li> <li>Strong written communication and collaboration skills.</li> <li>Competency with Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).</li> <li>Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).</li> <li>Knowledge of social media platforms and the ability to tailor content to each platform as required.</li> <li>Experience with photography, photo editing would be an asset.</li> </ul></div></div></div><p><strong>Next Step:</strong> </p> <ul> <li>Please note that candidates selected to move forward will receive an email to complete a short online video interview</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p>The estimated salary range for this role is 19.25 to 29.65., based on your experience and qualifications.
