Dillon School District Four 1738 Highway 301 North Dillon, SC 29536 Please Announce and Post VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR POSITION: Cross Country Head Coach Length of Employment: 190 Days Qualifications:
• Teaching certificate and experience preferred.
• Bachelor's degree (preferred) with administrative and/or coaching experience.
• Working knowledge of rules and regulations by South Carolina High School League and the NFHS.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the game is paramount as well as extensive knowledge of current coaching techniques and procedures.
• Ability to instruct and supervise student-athletes.
• Good organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others.
Performance Expectations:
• Coach athletes to not only be great players, but also be great members of our community .
• Manage and supervise all athletes in the cross country program.
• Manage and supervise all athletes during trainings, practices, and meets.
• Must possess the ability to assess players and coaches effectively.
• Must be able to relate to and teach students both on and off the track.
• Encourage and enforce student athlete discipline and sportsmanship both on and off the field.
• Use a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student athletes in cross country.
• Assist athletes with college recruitment.
• Ensure all members of the coaching staff are working together and towards the same goal.
• Assign and manage practice and meet day duties of assistant coaches.
• Act as team representative and promote the sport by communication with the news media, booster club, and other organizations.
• Follow established procedures to maintain and secure all cross country equipment and uniforms.
• Follow procedures to properly maintain facilities.
• Stay within the budget given by the Athletic Director and submit all orders to Athletic Director before purchasing.
• Assist Athletic Director with the scheduling of meets and coordinate arrangements.
• Represent the District, School and the Cross Country program in a professional manner.
• Maintain nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
• Must possess the ability to communicate in spoken and written word.
• Attend staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.
• Perform any extra duties as assigned by Athletic Director or other appropriate District Office Administrator.
