Applicants should supply suitable character references and be prepared to complete a Garda vetting application form. The Men's Social Network Assistant will support our Primary HealthCare project to build a network of Traveller men with a view to organising healthy activities, developing a network and participating in relevant health and wellbeing activities. Accompanied by and under the supervision of the Primary Health Care staff conduct outreach to Traveller specific accommodation, social housing and homeless accommodation to build an overview of where Traveller men are currently living within our catchment area. The participant will gain practical experience in • Under the supervision and support of the Community Development worker the Men's Social Network Assistant will develop a database of Traveller men. • Under the supervision and with the support of the Community Development worker S/He will consult with Traveller men and organise focus groups to listen to their health and social needs. • Under the supervision of Primary Health Care staff S/he will develop appropriate programmes with Traveller men in response to their identified needs • It is anticipated that S/He will be office based two days a week and this will involve supervision and support as part of the day to day training. • Under the supervision of the Community Development worker S/he will prepare for other relevant meetings with for example Pavee Point, ITM, Cavan Traveller Movement, Balbriggan Traveller project, Fingal County Council and Empower • Explore ongoing funding opportunities All of the above will be done in support and partnership with and under the direction of line Manager. Accredited training will take up to 40 hours with the Certificate in Arts in Intercultural Community Development QQI Level 6 run by TU Dublin. This is a mix of online and in person classes and assignments and they will be supported by two staff members who completed this last year. The remainder of the training hours, non-accredited will be learning through supervision and support and reflective practice and completing modules from HSE Land including: • Children First • GDPR • Traveller Health We would also encourage improving computer skills and learning other useful programmes such as Canva.
