About this role

Job SummaryYou will serve as a Supervisory Environmental Engineer as Head of the Environment Division (106.3), Occupational Safety Health and Environment Office (OSHE) (106), and the Chief Environmental Engineer of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

QualificationsYour resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience working in an industrial environment. Experience managing multiple environmental compliance programs. Experience interpreting environmental laws and regulations. Experience collecting and assembling data for regulatory submittal. Experience negotiating with regulatory agencies. Experience forecasting resource needs and manage scheduled workload. Experience assessing shipyard project needs and relationships to environmental risk and liability. Experience communicating with various personnel levels in organizations including production, engineering and leadership both written and oral. Experience identifying and fostering working relationships with separate navy commands. Experience applying engineering principles to solve problems. Major DutiesYou will develop effective and efficient teams and organizationsYou will evaluate environmental programs to ensure that staff, equipment, and procedures are adequate to meet environmental legal/regulatory requirements and objectives.You will provide consultation and advice to management and technical personnel, particularly in dealing with issues not readily covered by established methods/guidance.You will communicate and participate in public relations sufficient to represent the command in both internal and higher echelon meetings and conferences.You will participate in dealings/negotiations with representatives of regulatory agencies, and dealings with the public.
