Job SummaryThis position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, within the Facilities Division, Fort Worth, TX facility. As a Facility Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, analyzing, evaluating, designing, testing, construction, modifying and troubleshooting facility renovations and restorations for structures and multiple building systems.
QualificationsYou must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Applying a wide range of engineering or architectural principles, standards, and methods sufficient to design and inspect buildings and facility systems (e.g. mechanical, electrical, plumbing, utilities, etc.); AND Identifying and troubleshooting issues with standard engineering practices, equipment, and processes specific to facility renovations, restorations, and modernization; AND Coordinating projects with other engineers, contractors, building equipment operators, and stakeholders to improve and modify facility systems; AND Preparing technical reports specific to facility engineering.
Major DutiesAs a Facilities Engineer, you will: Use the mastery of a wide range of professional engineering skills and knowledge in order to determine the best solutions for various problems. Serve as an expert and provide technical expertise to ensure that all features of designs and specifications are technically accurate and competent, and exercises authority based upon demonstrated professional ability to approve such plans and specifications. Serve as a staff engineer and technical consultant and expert for the branch, having the responsibility for keeping abreast of revisions and/or technological advancements surrounding facility systems. Advise stationary engineers, staff engineers and building equipment operators in regard to performance of improvements and modifications to facilities systems, and on methods and procedures to be used for special studies on highly complex facility components such as METASYS, chilled water systems, thermal oxidizers, cooling towers and boiler room systems. Prepare and process technical reports, documents, and engineering studies on important and highly complex facility engineering and production matters which influence the current and future plant operations.RequirementsA recruitment incentive will not be offered.
