QualificationsCurrent Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The qualification requirements listed below must be met by the closing date of this announcement. To qualify for this position at the GS-15 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the federal government, a state or local government, or private sector, and must demonstrate the following: Providing senior level with advice, recommendations and direction on the development and management of resilience programs and policies; and Initiating, leading and managing complex programs and projects; and Supervising and directing work assignments, projects, deadlines, or initiatives of staff to meet program goals. Major DutiesWhat will I do in this position if hired? In this position, you will serve as Supervisory Emergency Management Specialist. Typical assignments include: Providing technical and administrative supervision to a team responsible for managing Hazard Mitigation programs, ensuring effective performance and professional development. Overseeing the development, review, and implementation of regulations, policies, and procedures for hazard mitigation programs, ensuring compliance with federal laws and agency standards. Directing the administration of major mitigation programs such as Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC), Pre-Disaster Mitigation (PDM), Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA), Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP), and the Safeguarding Tomorrow Revolving Loan Fund (STRLF). Representing the Hazard Mitigation Directorate in meetings with senior officials, government agencies, and external partners; build and maintain relationships with state, local, tribal, and private sector stakeholders to advance mitigation initiatives. Directing project leaders, make decisions on hiring, performance management, training, and resolve complex personnel and organizational issues to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
