QualificationsTo qualify at the GS-12 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis. Pilots vessels into harbor with either directing vessel crews or using commercial tug operators. Coordinates movements of vessel with assign crews, commercial tug operators and local waterway officials. Participates in Risk Assessments vessel movements in restricted waters. Major DutiesYou will serve as a Port Operations Coordinator and be responsible for for providing support for the shipyard's waterfront operations.. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Works with commercial tug boat operators to maneuver or tow vessels into port through bridge passes to wharfs and into drydock. Pilots Coast Guard crewed vessels from Chesapeake Bay into Curtis creek to moor at piers, wharfs or guide into drydock. Participates in contingency planning and execution for adverse weather or high-water events. Responds to logistics support requests made by arriving vessels. Keeps Production Manager appraised of visiting Coast Guard Cutters or other government vessels This position requires the following licenses prior to appointment. - USCG License - Master of Self-Propelled Vessels less than 1600 GRT - USCG License - Master of Towing Vessels Upon Coastal or Inland WatersRequirementsAll qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement.
