*WHAT YOU WILL DO*
The Assistant Controller supports the Vice President of Finance by managing day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting activities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strong internal controls. This role plays a critical hands-on function within the Finance team, translating enterprise financial strategy into disciplined execution across accounting processes.

This position is hybrid/remote in person in Winnipeg, MB and will be required to report to our Headquarters, located at The Forks, as directed.
*KEY RELATIONSHIPS*
Reports to: Vice President of Finance
Key Relationships: FInance department, cross-functional teams

*KEY RESPONSIBILITIES*
* Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to established controls and accounting guidance * Manage daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets * Manage Retail Sales tax submissions and compliance * Manage the duty drawback process to submit for duty recoveries * Prepare and review financial statements, reconciliations, and supporting schedules for internal and external reporting * Prepare and review other regular and ad hoc reporting, including weekly Flash and Cashflow forecast * Support the Vice President of Finance in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis * Maintain and improve accounting policies, procedures, and documentation to strengthen consistency and controlI * Assist with internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules and coordination with auditors * Monitor internal controls and support risk mitigation efforts related to financial reporting and accounting operations * Support ERP and financial system integrity, including user controls, data accuracy, and process adherence * Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff, ensuring workload balance, skill development, and performance accountability
*IDEAL EXPERIENCE*
_*Professional Experience:*_
* Minimum 5 years of direct, progressive experience working in a finance accounting role is required * Experience leading or supervising accounting employees is preferred * Experience with ERP systems and QuickBooks software is preferred
_*Educational Requirements:*_
* Post-secondary degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business is required * CPA designation or equivalent (completed or in progress) is required
