Apply at your earliest convenience and tell us what excites you about this role.We are currently looking for a Senior Auditor - SOX to join our Internal Audit team in a permanent position. Reporting to the Manager, Internal Audit - SOX, you will work closely with business process owners to perform testing of internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) to ensure compliance with National Instrument 52-109 and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements. This includes walkthroughs, tests of design and operating effectiveness across key business process areas for in-scope affiliates in Canada and the US. We are a large, diverse, complex organization with multiple business units that will offer challenge and career growth.As Senior Auditor-SOX you will:Perform business process level walk-throughs, develop test scripts, and execute tests of controls to assess and strengthen Emera's ICFRCollaborate with external auditors and facilitate alignment in testing approaches and timing to maximize relianceMaintain relationships with affiliate employees, stay informed on risks and strategic initiatives impacting applicable in-scope SOX affiliates, and gain consensus regarding potentially contentious or sensitive itemsStay current on NI5/SOX regulations, PCAOB auditing standards and IIA standards to incorporate these insights into testing and audit activitiesMonitor remediation associated with previous control issues, provide ongoing consultation on remediation approach What skills will make you successful?You recognize yourself in most of the following competencies, and where possible possess the skills and experience listed below:Degree in Accounting, Finance or related disciplineRelevant audit designation/certifications (CPA designation preferred)3+ years of internal/external audit or SOX compliance within a public company environmentWorking knowledge of audit concepts and techniques such as ICFR, SOX Section 404 requirements, and the COSO frameworkHighly detailed oriented, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple prioritiesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsThe perks of joining our team?
