Position Overview

STS is seeking a summer student to join its Information Technology team and provide frontline technical support to students, faculty, and staff. This role offers hands-on experience supporting a diverse technology environment within a leading K–12 International Baccalaureate school.

Core Areas of Responsibility

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the first point of contact for IT support requests.

• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues.

• Support desktops, laptops, peripherals, printers, projectors, and interactive displays.

• Assist users with software-related questions and best practices.

• Deploy and provision software remotely using management tools.

• Log, track, escalate, and follow up on support tickets.

• Maintain accurate IT asset inventory records.

• Coordinate warranty claims with vendors.

• Investigate missing or anomalous equipment.

• Create and test network cabling as required.

• Support annual laptop collection, refresh, and deployment processes.

• Assist with the setup and implementation of new technology initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience

Education & Eligibility Requirements

• Pursuing studies in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

• Must meet the eligibility requirements of the Government of Canada Student Work Placement Program (SWPP), including:

• Registered as a domestic student at a Canadian Post-Secondary Education (PSE) institution;

• Enrolled and has started in their academic program before commencing a Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) placement;

• Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or persons to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act

• Legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations. International students are not eligible.

• Undertaking a placement that is recognized as work-integrated learning in connection with a course, degree, certificate, diploma, or other recognized program offered by the institution. The placement can be required or optional, for credit or not for credit.

• In a full or part-time program from any program of study

• Not an immediate family member of the employer

Desired Experience

• Demonstrated knowledge of:

• Microsoft Windows

• Microsoft Office Suite

• Microsoft 365

• Google Workspace/Google Cloud solutions

• Local Area Network (LAN) client connectivity

• Apple macOS (OSX)

• Experience working in a technical support or help desk environment.

• Knowledge of incident tracking and ticketing systems is considered an asset.

• Previous experience working in an educational or school environment is considered an asset.

• Experience supporting mobile devices and technologies is considered an asset.

• Experience working in a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) environment is considered an asset.
