ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

Position-Specific Performance Expectations, Duties, and Responsibilities:
• Greets patients in person and on the phone in a friendly and courteous manner.
• Obtains and verifies patient information
• Answers and directs incoming calls.
• Accurately admits/registers patients for all services performed at MRH.
• Time of service collections of co-pays and such as needed.
• Processes all returned mail.
• Acts as a liaison between patient, families, physicians, and care team.
• Participates in interdepartmental process improvements and process evaluation efforts.
• Acts as an internal consultant and educator to hospital staff in the area of expertise.
• Strives to ensure continual compliance with Patient Access Department policies and procedures.
• Can identify and access the system to report abuse to employees and/or patients.
• Establishes a good rapport and working relationship with other departments.
• Coordinates insurance, preauthorization, benefits verification, and pre-registration activities.
• Prioritizes workload and completes assignments within allotted time. Works as a team with co-workers.
• Assists in the orientation of new employees.
• Proficient in the duties in both the outpatient and Emergency Departments.
• Cross-trains in other departments as needed.
• Educates patients for financial assistance.
• Completes miscellaneous reports.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Reports to work punctually and completes assigned duties within established timeframes.
• Actively contributes to departmental and organization-wide performance improvement and continuous quality initiatives.
• Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, maintaining adherence to departmental, hospital, state, and federal standards and policies.
• Follows all infection control, safety, and risk management procedures to maintain a safe environment for patients, the public, and staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Must be at least 18 years of age (21 for positions requiring driving, with a valid driver's license).
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Must successfully pass a background check.
• Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and breath alcohol test (if applicable).
• Must complete an Employee Health meeting prior to starting employment.
