About this role
Role: As an integral part of Fitness and Training Team, the Equipment & Maintenance Specialist is responsible for providing technical and operational support, while working closely with the Fitness Coordinator & Fitness Manager. Legendary Service, Safety, Excellence, and Innovation are key requirements of the role. They will be self-starter and intrinsically driven individual who inspires a high level of safety standards in the fitness department and has the capability to implement changes based on a business needs, while ensuring a legendary experience for our customers.
This role is 5-6 hours per week with opportunity for call-ins falling between Monday through Friday (flexible days) based on equipment and repair needs, with a key focus on preventative maintenance on all fitness equipment, minor repairs using existing in-stock parts, reupholsters and tracking repair/maintenance.

What you'll do:
Leadership:
• Coach shift leaders and fitness center staff on how to address daily fitness center needs & perform preventative maintenance tasks/minor repairs.
• Assist and support shift leaders and team members through servicing equipment and provide troubleshooting assistance, while being a problem solver when required.
• Assist Coordinator with maintaining business relationships with external equipment and parts vendors (ex. Apple Fitness) and work with our suppliers to ensure timely equipment turnaround & upkeep.
• Assist Coordinator to ensure department's safety expectations and standards are maintained and ensure visual standards are met for all equipment cabling
Administrative Support:
• Adhere to facility wide alerts, communications procedures, and radio communications.
• Statistical analysis which includes collection, compiling and sharing with the manager.
• Track spending related to equipment repair and maintenance
• Assist in budgeting (specifically GLs 6680-420 and 6690-120)
• Participate in monthly meeting with Manager & Coordinator.
• Support the manager/coordinator with selling of fitness centre equipment.
• Assist Coordinator with obtaining quotes on new equipment and assisting with ordering of both new and replacement items and/or parts.
Maintenance:
• Perform preventative maintenance on all fitness equipment (lubrication, settings, filters etc.)
• Perform minor repairs to equipment using in-stock parts (pedals, seats, switches etc.)
• Maintain and repair sports equipment (basketball padding, rims, and nets, volleyball standards, nets and cranks, badminton nets and posts)
What you'll need:
• Currently pursuing or have completed post-secondary in a Bachelor of Kin, CPT or Sport Management field.
• Preference given to candidates with 2 years of experience in a leadership role and a Personal Training role.
• Excellent teamwork and problem solving skills is required.
• The ability to work independently, with little supervision, in a fast paced environment is critical.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written) that allow adaptability to a variety of stakeholders.
• Certifications in CPR Level C and Standard First Aid are required within the first 3 months of employment
