Job Summary
The Truck Driver is responsible for operating a semi truck with single tri axel trailers in various areas around the site and in accordance with policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). In addition to duties as a truck driver, we are looking for someone who is flexible and able to assist with groundwork, repairs, and loading and moving railcars.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Review, understand and follow all SOPs related to the work area.
• Review, understand and follow all safety rules and general site rules including seat belt, travel routes, speed limit, awareness of surroundings, etc.
• Operate a semi truck with single tri axel trailer.
• Assist with groundwork, repairs, and loading and moving railcars.
• Ensure yard and facilities are kept clean and in good condition including roadways, washroom, kitchen, locker room, exits, lighting, etc.
• Complete equipment checklists, inspections and Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHA) as required.
• Report any equipment issues or malfunctions to the Superintendent or Plant Manager.
• Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings or investigations as required.
• Complete safety and equipment training/retraining as required.
• Use all required safety equipment and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
• Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Previous experience working in a heavy industrial environment operating a semi truck with super B or single axel trailer.
• Valid Class 1A license with a clean drivers abstract and must be able to reliably commute to and from site.
• Flexible mindset with willingness to assist in yard and facility housekeeping.
• Ability to work safely and in accordance with SOPs.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Work Environment
• Manual labour is required.
• Working outdoors is required year round.
• PPE is required to be worn at all times when working on site.
• Site consists of variations in temperature and noise levels.
• Sensory attention/mental stress can be quite high during high production periods.
