Job Description:
The ACH Operations Assistant Manager supports the oversight and daily management of ACH Operations to ensure the accurate, timely, and compliant processing of ACH transactions. This role provides leadership to ACH Operations staff, monitors operational risk, supports regulatory compliance, and partners with internal business units to enhance ACH services and operational efficiency.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Assist in managing ACH origination, receipt, settlement, returns, reversals, Notifications of Change (NOCs), and exception processing.
• Ensure ACH transactions are processed accurately, timely, and in compliance with NACHA Rules and Bank policies.
• Oversee ACH balancing, reconciliations, and file transmission activities.
• Research and resolve complex operational issues and escalated ACH inquiries.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and operational efficiency.
• Provide daily supervision, coaching, training, and support to ACH Operations staff.
• Assist with employee development, performance management, and goal achievement.
• Promote a culture of accountability, accuracy, compliance, and customer service excellence.
• Monitor ACH activity for operational risk, fraud exposure, and compliance concerns.
• Review and approve exceptions, returns, unauthorized transactions, and other high-risk items within established authority limits.
• Assist with audits, examinations, risk assessments, and internal control testing.
• Ensure compliance with NACHA Rules, Regulation E, BSA/AML, OFAC, UCC Article 4A, and other appAlicable regulations.
• Partner with Treasury Management, Deposit Operations, Compliance, Fraud Management, and Commercial Banking teams.
• Support ACH client onboarding, risk reviews, implementation activities, and operational readiness assessments.
• Assist customers with ACH limits, file transmission issues, operational exceptions, and service enhancements.
• Support ACH fraud awareness and customer education initiatives.
• Prepare and analyze ACH operational reports, volume trends, exception metrics, and key performance indicators.
• Monitor ACH return rates and unauthorized activity to ensure compliance with NACHA thresholds.
• Assist with workforce planning, capacity management, and operational forecasting.
• Support system implementations, upgrades, testing, and business continuity planning.
• Other responsibilities as reasonably required.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Banking, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of ACH, Treasury Management Operations, Deposit Operations, or related banking experience.
• Minimum 3 years of supervisory, lead, or management experience preferred.
• Experience with commercial ACH origination, ACH risk management, and exception processing.
• Strong knowledge of NACHA Operating Rules and banking regulations.
