HR GENERALIST
Looking for an HR Generalist to join our team of construction professionals! This person is responsible for supporting day-to-day HR operations, including onboarding, employee relations, HRIS data accuracy, compliance, and employee support across office and field locations. This position plays a key role in promoting a positive employee experience and maintaining strong relationships with employees and management.
Experience/Training:
• Bachelor degree in Human Resource field or applicable experience and certifications highly desired
• Experience in the Construction industry Preferred
• PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred
• Experience with UKG Pro is highly desired, but not required

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (other duties may be assigned to meet business needs)
• Champion and promote the Big-D Construction Company culture by fostering a positive employee experience and serving as a visible, approachable HR resource.
• Build strong working relationships with employees, managers, and leadership, including office and field personnel.
• Partner with the Human Resource Director to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, as well as Company policies and procedures.
• Coordinate and execute all aspects of the new hire onboarding process, including preparing onboarding materials, completing new hire paperwork, and facilitating New Hire Orientation.
• Process pre-employment and onboarding requirements, including background checks, motor vehicle record reviews, drug testing, E-Verify, I-9 completion, and other employment documentation.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for employees regarding HR programs, policies, procedures, benefits, and employment-related questions.
• Proactively engage with employees and managers to identify concerns, provide guidance, and support a positive and productive work environment.
• Support employee engagement initiatives and help strengthen Company culture through regular interaction, communication, and relationship-building efforts.
• Ensure the accuracy of employee data within the Human Resources Information System (UKG Pro).
• Prepare reports for management in a timely and accurate manner.
• Partner with the Company's EEO Officer to assist with workplace investigations, including employee interviews, documentation, fact gathering, and follow-up actions.
• Represent the Company at career fairs, recruiting events, community outreach programs, and other employment-related functions as needed
• Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive employee and Company information.
• Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by the Human Resource Director.
Work Environment and Travel
• This position is based in Tempe, Arizona and provides HR support for multiple office locations and field operations throughout the region.
• Regular travel to jobsites and other office locations is required to maintain employee relationships, support business needs, and promote HR initiatives.
• Work environment is typically in an office setting, however, visiting jobsites under construction will occasionally occur. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided for these visits.
