About this role
Architectural Estimator
Landscape Architectural Site Furnishings & Engineered Rooftop Planting Systems
About Us
We are a design-driven manufacturer of landscape architectural site furnishings and engineered modular planting systems for commercial developments, rooftop terraces, amenity decks, and mixed-use environments. We offer custom design development and manufacturing of landscape architectural products including pergolas, outdoor kitchens, modular planting systems and public art.
Our work goes beyond standard planters and site elements. We engineer fully integrated systems that combine:
• Custom planters
• Fire and water features
• Integrated seating
• Lighting and audio integration
• Guardrails
• Structural attachment systems
• Wind uplift performance
• Saturated soil containment and drainage performance
Our systems are often written into project specifications and require coordination across structural, architectural, waterproofing, and landscape disciplines.
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Estimator with a strong background in custom metal fabrication and architectural assemblies. This role is responsible for the technical lifecycle of the bidding process—from interpreting complex architectural drawings to preparing final "hard bids" for engineered systems.
You will work directly with:
• Architects and Landscape Architects (specification phase).
• ORE internal Teams: Sales, Design Development, CAD, Project Management and Production Scheduling.
• General Contractors and Specialty Subcontractors (bidding and construction).
Key Responsibilities
• Bid Preparation: Lead the preparation of comprehensive "hard bids" for custom architectural projects, including pergolas, modular planting systems, and integrated site furnishings.
• Technical Take-offs: Perform precise quantity take-offs and budgetary cost analysis for fully integrated systems that combine planters, seating, lighting, and audio.
• Proposal Development: Develop clear and concise item descriptions and qualifications for proposals, ensuring accuracy and technical understanding for both internal teams and clients.
• Performance Evaluation: Analyze architectural and structural plans to estimate requirements for specialized criteria such as wind uplift performance, structural attachment systems, and drainage performance.
• Material & Production Strategy: Evaluate technical material requirements (specifically aluminum and custom metals) and coordinate with the Supply Chain team to ensure accurate pricing and availability.
• Shop & Design Coordination: Partner with internal Design Development and production teams to estimate labor and fabrication timelines for complex, site-specific solutions.
• Strategic Follow-up: Execute diligent bid follow-up and maintain professional relationships with General Contractors and bidding subcontractors through the project award phase.
• Process Innovation: Actively seek opportunities to innovate and improve the estimating workflow; explore and integrate emerging technologies to streamline the transition from design development to final bid.
Required Experience
• Industry Experience: 5+ years of experience in technical estimating, specifically within architectural metals, landscape architectural products, building envelope systems, or structural systems.
• Education: BA/BS degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field is preferred; or an equivalent combination of professional experience and technical training.
• Technical Proficiency: Deep understanding of architectural systems, including fabrication workflows, finishing processes, and relevant codes (IBC and wind load requirements).
• Software Skills: Proficiency in Bluebeam Revu, Excel-based estimating systems, and ERP systems (NetSuite preferred); familiarity with SolidWorks or similar 3D modeling software is a plus.
• Detail Orientation: Ability to navigate complex site-specific challenges—such as saturated soil containment and structural load-bearing requirements—with a high degree of accuracy.
