Available Title(s): 1132-YN_ADMINPRO - Extension Coordinator Business Title: Thurston County 4-H Program Coordinator Employee Type: Admin. Professional (+) (Fixed Term) Position Details: The Opportunity: As the Thurston County 4-H Program Coordinator, you provide oversight, leadership, recruitment and volunteer management for Washington State University (WSU) Extension work in the 4-H Youth Development Program of Thurston County. You are responsible for outreach and coordinating education efforts serving 4-H youth and volunteers. This includes the development and implementation of programs and activities within the policies and procedures of WSU Extension, and specifically, 4-H programming under the direction of the Thurston County Extension Director.
Additional Information: This is a part time (75% FTE), temporary position. This position is overtime eligible.
This is a temporary position expected to end 1 year from date of hire. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment.
Monthly Salary: $2,925.66 - $4,210.10 at 75% FTE ($3,900.88 - $5,613.47 at 100% FTE)| Commensurate with experience and qualifications
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
• A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant extension program discipline and two (2) years of related program experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
• Relevant disciplines include but are not limited to social sciences, education, human development and administration.
• Experience recruiting and managing volunteers.
• Knowledge of, and/or experience with, 4-H youth development programs.
• Experience working/collaborating with public agencies and individuals in partnerships.
• Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.
• Must successfully pass the WSU background screening process and the 4-H Youth Development/Child Protection screening process.
• This position requires the ability to travel and work a flexible schedule during the week including nights and weekends occasionally requiring overnight travel.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite of programs and Outlook; demonstrated work experience using these programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.
• Ability to act with professional discretion when resolving programmatic conflicts.
• Strong demonstrated written skills in preparing reports, evaluations, press releases, synthesis of a broad range of materials, and effective written conveyance of program information to the public and program participants.
• Strong demonstrated verbal communication and listening skills for public speaking and effective conveyance of program information to the public, program participants, and decision makers.
• Experience working/collaborating with public agencies and individuals in partnerships.
• Knowledge of, and/or experience with, program assessment and evaluation.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced and creative environment.
• Demonstrated ability to relate to and collaborate with a wide range of people from varied social and economic levels, ages, races, ethnic backgrounds as well as in rural, suburban, and urban settings.
• First Aid and CPR certified (or ability to get certified).
