ABOUT US
The Salvation Army is a Christian movement and one of Australia's largest and most-loved charities. We believe in doing good that transforms lives and futures for the better. It is this belief which drives us to find new ways and places where we can make a difference. From times of personal crisis to moments of national grief, we are always here — providing support, safety, community, and opportunity.
We’re looking for a permanent fulltime Employment Consultant to join our Inclusive Employment Australia (IEA) program in a school-focussed role servicing the Ipswich and Logan regions.
Looking for a role where you can grow, feel supported, and make a real difference in the lives of young people? At Employment Plus, you'll help early school leavers build confidence, overcome barriers, and achieve sustainable employment and training outcomes. Working out of local schools and Employment Plus offices in across Ipswich and Logan regions, you'll provide quality engagement with young people leaving high school, supporting skill development and job readiness.
What you’ll be doing A key focus of this role is the provision of strong engagement and post placement support for young jobseekers leaving high school and connecting with employers to facilitate retention and sustained employment outcomes. A typical day might include:
• Building supportive, motivating relationships with early school leavers • Networking with schools, in partnership with our Community Engagement Coordinator • Helping prepare resumes, job applications and interview skills • Connecting with local employers, identifying suitable opportunities and advocating for your participants • Providing ongoing support once someone starts work • Making referrals to training providers, allied health and community services • Keeping accurate records to ensure quality support
About you You enjoy working with young people and want to make a positive impact. You might be:
• An experienced Employment Consultant looking for a more youth-focussed role • Someone from a youth work, community development or related background who has demonstrated the ability to build strong professional relationships and achieve positive outcomes for young people, and who is ready to step into a meaningful career in employment services. • You have high level customer engagement and administrative skills • You possess a demonstrated understanding of the issues and challenges facing young people • Existing networks within the Logan and Ipswich regions are an advantage but not essential
If you’re a strong communicator, motivating, organised, resilient and calm under pressure, you’ll thrive here. A driver’s licence and your own car are required as you’ll travel between sites across the region.
What we offer: As an employee of The Salvation Army, you are entitled to benefits such as:
• Attractive Salary packaging up to $15,900 tax free + $2,650 meal entertainment benefit. • Opportunity to work your fulltime hours across a 9‑day fortnight or accrue a monthly RDO • Comprehensive training and ongoing professional development • Discounted fitness memberships, health insurance and retail offers • Purchased leave options and Access to 12 weeks paid parental leave • Up to 5 days paid Salvos volunteering leave • Free counselling and wellbeing initiatives • Long‑term career pathways across Employment Plus and the wider Salvation Army network
