Job Description To maintain and repair the physical plant and equipment. This is to include boilers and all heating related equipment. All HVAC equipment. All water cooled and air-cooled chillers, and related cooling systems. Provide assistance to the other facility departments as needed to support and maintain the day-to-day operations of the college. This position will drive college vehicles as part of the Facilities Staff.
Salary Range: The salary range for this position is: $34.16 - $39.66/hour
(DOQ – Salary Placement will be done at time of hire.)
Minimum Qualifications - (must have at time of application)
• Boiler's License - First (1st) Class Engineer Grade C.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record. This is required in order to drive Campus Vehicles.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to perform physical requirements of the job, including bending, stooping, lifting a minimum of fifty (50) pounds, reaching above the shoulder level, crouching, pushing and pulling on a frequent basis, climbing ladders and squatting.
• Ability to perform repetitive motions with various types of equipment and tools on a regular basis.
Preferred Qualification
• Possession of a Universal Refrigerant License.
• Working knowledge of operation, maintenance, repair, and installation of plumbing.
• Working knowledge of electrical systems/repair.
• Ability to use tools for making general repairs including hand and power tools.
• Basic carpentry skills.
• Able to develop plans and estimate supplies and materials as well as read and interpret blueprints and technical manuals.
• Human relation skills and ability to deal with employees and the public to establish good working relationships.
• Knowledge of the principles and practices involved in the operation and maintenance of low-pressure power plant, safety standards and the ability to establish and maintain accident prevention practices.
• Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
• Ability to work without direct supervision or direction.
• Positive problem-solving skills.
• The applicant (the employee) should demonstrate a knowledge of and interest in diverse cultures and populations.
