MnSCU Academic Professional 1 Bargaining Unit / Union: 214: Minnesota Association of Professional Employees City: Rochester FLSA: Non Job Exempt Full Time / Part Time: Full time Employment Condition: Unclassified - Unlimited Academic Salary Range: $24.40 - $35.30 Job Description: The Student Engagement Specialist is responsible for planning and organizing student activities and programs under the Student Life division at RCTC. The Specialist leads the planning, developing, promoting, and evaluating programs and services that are focused on providing the diverse student body with opportunities for personal growth, community building, leadership development, with a major emphasis on recruitment, retention, student learning and the successful achievement of students’ academic and career goals.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Minimum of two-year related professional work experience in education. An associate’s degree may substitute for 6 months professional experience, a bachelor’s degree may substitute for 1-year professional experience, and a master’s degree may substitute for 1.5-years professional experience. • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, think critically, and problem solve. • Strong organizational skills. • Ability to work cooperatively with others. • Effective human relations and communication skills (written, verbal and listening). • Experience with event planning. • Experience with a variety of social media platforms. • Ability to think creatively and innovatively.
Preferred Qualification:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. • Graphic design experience utilizing Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) or platforms such as Canva. • Experience, working with, and addressing needs of a diverse student community. • Experience working at a higher education institution. • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Work Shift (Hours / Days of work): Monday-Friday 8:00 am- 4:30 pm with ability to be flexible to support events
