Job Description:
Job Disclosures: Location: (On-Site) Los Angeles, CA Compensation: The salary range for this position is $78,720 to $88,560. “Off-scale salaries” and other components of pay, i.e., a salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated position grade, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions.
Job Summary: The Safety & Security Manager provides guidance and leadership to all reporting security personnel at Meow Wolf within the exhibition. Promotes good working relations through courteous, helpful, and professional contact with employees, visitors, guests, and vendors/contractors. Must work seamlessly with GM, Operations, Finance, Human Resources, Retail/Merchandise, Food & Beverage, Events, and Sales/Marketing Directors and Managers to ensure delivery of the highest level of guest satisfaction. Reports to the General Manager with a dotted line relationship to the MW INC Director, Risk Management.
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan, direct, coordinate security activities to safeguard company assets, employees, guests, and visitors.
• Oversee contracted security services, conducting routine audits and enforcing strict adherence to regulatory requirements and company safety protocols
• Manage vendor relationships and track key performance indicators to guarantee contract security teams meet or exceed all facility security standards
• Manage scheduling for all full time and part time Security Officers.
• Ensure adherence to pre-approved budget and create justifications for over budget spending as necessary.
• Enhances employee and guest safety through all operational procedures.
• Assures optimum guest satisfaction through the delivery of excellent customer service.
• Conduct physical examinations of company locations to ensure compliance with safety & security policies and requirements.
• As needed, conducts safety & security training for employees, supervisors, and managers.
• Prepare reports for management outlining trends for security issues and incidents on site.
• Evaluates all security procedures and protocols, as well as make recommendations for improvement and risk reduction.
• Manage and maintain the security equipment including metal detectors, two-way radios, etc.
• Establishes and maintains a progressive and empowered workforce. Trains, counsels, and coaches assigned Security personnel in the performance of their duties; prepares and presents performance appraisal reviews.
• Aid in maintaining and updating emergency responses procedures with conducting emergency response training exercises.
• Work with local law enforcement and fire department as needed.
• Develop and compile data for quarterly, and annual audit reports for all incidents, trends, staffing levels, department budget expenses.
• Assists Senior Leadership in developing and implementing new policies and procedures.
• Manage the process of security screening for both employees (if deemed necessary) and guests.
• Coordinate with events, private events, programming, outreach, and other departments for on-site needs related to security process, messaging, etc.
• Secures, screens, and manages outside security vendors as needed.
Required Qualifications
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role within the safety & security field, preferably in the hospitality, tourism, or related industries.
• Demonstrated work experience as a Safety & Security Manager or Supervisor
• OSHA 30 - General Industry Certification.
• Established history of creating safety policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Loss Prevention programming experience.
• Proficiency in English, verbal and writing.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication.
• Customer service driven with outstanding communication and active listening skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and multitasking skills.
• Previous experience in budget development and adherence.
Work Environment and Physical Demands To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed must be representative of the knowledge, skills, minimum education, training, licensure, experience, and/or ability required.
Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and scanners. This position also works in an indoor setting with exposure to noisy environments, dim lighting, strong visual effects including strobing lights, special effects, fog machines and small and/ or enclosed spaces.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Physical ability to walk, stand, take stairs/slides/elevators, and navigate the elements during the day and night. Employee may be required to remain in a sitting or standing position for prolonged periods, and repeat motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.

Work Schedule: This is a full-time position that requires the ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
Supervisor Responsibilities: This position does require supervisory responsibility.
