Formulation Development & Portfolio Execution
• Translate electronics market and customer needs—including PCB, semiconductor, LED, and related applications—into clear product requirements and development priorities. • Oversee the design, validation, and optimization of advanced formulations, including solder masks, coatings, conformal coatings, gels, encapsulants, adhesives, and adjacent material platforms. • Work closely with component R&D teams to define future resin, curative, filler, additive, and pigment requirements that advance formulation performance. • Ensure development processes are robust, scalable, performance-driven, and aligned with regulatory, quality, and commercial readiness requirements.
Technology Transfer & Industrialization
• Partner with process development and manufacturing teams to enable smooth scale-up, technology transfer, and industrialization of new formulations. • Lead pilot trials, scale-up activities, qualification readiness, and launch preparation with clear milestones, risk management, and decision discipline. • Support manufacturing, technical service, and customer-facing teams during qualification, ramp-up, and early commercialization phases.
Team Development & Capability Building
• Build formulation, characterization, and application expertise within the team, developing capabilities that support both near-term project delivery and long-term platform growth. • Mentor and develop team members through coaching, training, and career development support, fostering accountability, curiosity, and continuous improvement. • Deploy technical, human, and financial resources effectively to maximize R&D productivity and ensure focus on the highest value-creating opportunities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Business Integration
• Act as a core member of the Global Product Innovation leadership team, contributing to strategic planning and execution of new product development initiatives. • Collaborate proactively with process development, Basel and HATC technical centers, regional marketing, technical service, quality, manufacturing, and commercial leaders. • Support opportunity selection, project prioritization, launch readiness, technical documentation, and go-to-market planning with strong scientific credibility and business understanding. • Influence cross-functional teams toward successful outcomes by balancing creativity, scientific rigor, customer relevance, and timely execution.
What You Bring Education
• Master’s degree or PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, Formulation, or a related technical discipline.
Experience
• 10+ years of R&D experience in materials formulation for electronics applications, such as solder masks, coatings, encapsulants, adhesives, and related technologies. • Proven track record leading multidisciplinary teams and driving innovation projects from proof of concept through industrialization. • Strong experience in scale-up, customer qualification, technology transfer, and launch support within complex technical environments.
Technical & Leadership Know-How
• Deep formulation expertise across epoxy, acrylic, polyurethane, silicone resin systems, fillers, additives, pigments, and adjacent materials technologies. • Strong understanding of electronics market requirements across PCB, semiconductor, LED, and related application spaces. • Ability to manage complex technical portfolios, align diverse stakeholders, and connect R&D execution with customer and business value. • Scientific rigor, innovative thinking, customer focus, resource discipline, and a results-oriented leadership style.
What Success Looks Like in This Role
• You translate market, customer, and business strategy into a focused electronics innovation roadmap with clear priorities, disciplined resource allocation, and measurable project outcomes. • You deliver high-impact formulation solutions that meet demanding performance requirements and progress effectively from concept to validation, scale-up, qualification, and launch. • You build and sustain a high-performing R&D team with strong formulation, characterization, application, and industrialization capabilities. • You establish trusted technical relationships with senior customer R&D leaders and internal stakeholders, acting as a credible representative of Huntsman innovation. • You operate effectively across functions and geographies, strengthening collaboration between ATC, Basel, HATC, manufacturing, technical service, marketing, and commercial teams. • You make sound, timely decisions in complex technical situations, balancing scientific rigor, speed, risk, scalability, and long-term value creation. • You champion meaningful innovation and continuous improvement, challenging existing ways of working to accelerate development timelines and improve portfolio impact. • You consistently role-model Huntsman principles, ethical leadership, and a strong commitment to safety, quality, and customer value.
