About the role:

In collaboration with EPSRC, Imperial and the world’s leading Chemical Engineering Company, we are seeking a Research Associate to join the Innovative Continuous Manufacturing of Industrial Chemicals (IConIC) consortium. The main aim of this Prosperity Partnership is to translate the UK’s scientific leadership in Flow Chemistry into industrial leadership and commercial value; to realise a step change in the implementation of continuous flow processing for the manufacture of high-value chemicals.

What you would be doing:

You will work on a research project coordinated between chemical engineering, chemistry and computing academics. You will design and construct flow reactors to conduct tandem reactions. Implement appropriate inline analytical tools, for the collection and analysis of ‘real time’ data. Assist with the analysis of data (collaboration with Department of Computing).

What we are looking for:

You should hold, or be near completion of, a PhD in Synthetic Chemistry/Flow Chemistry, Reaction Engineering, or a closely related discipline, or equivalent research, industrial or commercial experience Experience in dealing with multidisciplinary experimental and computational collaborators Practical experience within a research environment and publications in relevant and refereed journals Practical experience in a broad range of techniques including synthetic chemistry, flow chemistry, analytical chemistry, kinetic experiments.

Further Information

The post is for up to 18 months with the possibility of an extension.

Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as a Research Assistant.
