Job Summary: Primary Function Supports the business unit team comprising of technicians and supports staff to efficiently and effectively exceed client requirements and expectation for Certification and Testing. Ensures delivery of these services is consistent, and in support of, corporate and divisional values, policies and objectives and enhances CSA’s image as a Global leader in Product Certification.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities Understanding the Business
• Supports the Operation/Country Manager in routine activities related to Laboratory management. • Ensures all decisions made are in the best interest of “one” CSA.
Working Well with Others
• Manages employees by providing direction and leadership • Keeps line of communication open among all stakeholders, tracking deliverables, milestones, and any decisions made regarding requests for change and outstanding items • Hires, develops and assesses performance of the team according to corporate policies and procedures; ensures training of staff is scheduled and completed as required to deliver efficient services. • Be a mentor to the employees and lead by example; addresses all non-conformances within specified timelines. • Improves employee engagement within team.
Delivering Results
• Performs laboratory work and produces reports/certificates in accordance with procedures and within the documented Management System and to the agreed timescales • Provides technical assistance to clients and manages and resolves customer issues to ensure services delivered result in a high level of customer satisfaction. • Seeks out ways to improve overall delivery by working directly with SQ to optimize the certification process. • Addresses all non conformances within specified timelines. • Ensures quality of service is maintained throughout the certification process. • Balances workload between team members and other regional offices/international to ensure high level of customer satisfaction is maintained. • Ensures quotes and commitment dates are in line with team targets. • Involves in sales, marketing, business development managers and other corporate resources to maximize revenues and margins. • Continuous improvement of the labs, for example: Automation, Quality improvements, new technology for testing, process improvements. • Lab Configuration Management – Coordinates overall lab space utilization optimizing for work efficiency, safety and productivity including sample and equipment storage and overall cleanliness. • Repair and Maintenance – Manages scheduling for repair and maintenance of lab equipment, systems and infrastructure ensuring safety focus. • Preventative Maintenance – Establishes and maintains a preventative maintenance schedule for lab equipment, systems and infrastructure ensuring safety focus. • Calibration – Schedules equipment for metrology calibration to minimize interruption and delays in operational lab testing; organizes and defines all equipment (ownership); determines the need for duplication of equipment to avoid work stoppage due to unavailable equipment. Build efficient and effective ways for the calibration team to service its customers. • Procurement Coordination – Coordinates purchasing of equipment, consumables and service providers with Procurement to ensure lab is properly supplied and supported; works with Procurement to establish and consolidate suppliers. • 17025 Lab Accreditation and Maintenance – Ensures all applicable lab equipment meets 17025 (e.g., temp, humidity).

Ensures training of employees on safe work practices.
Preferred Education & Experience
• Graduate in Engineering or Science with MBA (preferred) • 5 – 10 years of certification or equivalent technical experience • Independent worker, with leadership skills and ability to manage and inspire staff • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Strong presentation skills and confidence to deliver message to wide audience • Strong problem solving and organizational skills • Strong facilitation and analytical skills
