Job Description
The Vice President – Trading & Conflicts Compliance will be based in India and serve as the senior offshore leader responsible for overseeing compliance and legal activities related to personal trading compliance, conflicts of interest, information barrier chaperoning, non disclosure agreements (NDAs), and Code of Ethics administration.
This role is designed for a qualified lawyer with prior legal experience, who brings strong legal judgment alongside operational leadership. The Vice President will lead India based teams supporting global Compliance and Legal stakeholders, with accountability for day to day execution, quality, escalation, and people management, while ensuring consistent application of policies, legal standards, and regulatory expectations.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide critical support/leverage to global head of conflicts clearance and code of ethics.
• Provide leadership and oversight for offshore teams supporting trading compliance, conflicts management, chaperoning, NDAs, and Code of Ethics activities.
• Act as a senior legal and compliance partner to global Compliance and Legal stakeholders on matters related to trading, conflicts, and ethics.
• Manage end to end delivery, including workload prioritization, capacity management, quality assurance, and escalation of issues.
• Serve as the primary offshore escalation point for complex or sensitive trading, conflicts, and ethics matters.
• Ensure consistent and legally sound application of compliance policies, procedures, and controls.
• Oversee review, assessment, and documentation related to personal trading activity, conflicts disclosures, chaperone arrangements, NDA execution, and Code of Ethics certifications.
• Establish and maintain procedures, desk level guidance, and training materials for offshore teams.
• Track, analyze, and report metrics related to volume, timeliness, quality, and risk indicators.
• Support internal audits, regulatory inquiries, and compliance reviews related to these activities.
• Drive strategic efficiencies across conflicts clearance and ethics processes, leveraging technology, automation, and best practices to optimize speed, accuracy, and scalability.
• Support global stakeholders across time zones, including outside of regular business hours as required.
Qualifications
Blackstone seeks to hire individuals who work well in a team-driven working group, are highly motivated, intelligent, have sound judgment and have demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors. The successful candidate must have:
• Qualified attorney, with admission to practice law in at least one jurisdiction.
• Prior legal experience required, including experience at a law firm and/or in house legal role.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in legal, compliance, or risk management roles within financial services or a regulated environment.
• Strong working knowledge of personal trading compliance, conflicts of interest, information barriers, and Codes of Ethics.
• Experience overseeing chaperoning and NDA related legal or compliance processes.
• Proven people management experience, including leading offshore or shared services teams.
• Strong understanding of regulatory expectations applicable to investment advisers and financial institutions.
• Experience preparing metrics, dashboards, and management reporting for legal or compliance programs.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Excellent organizational, prioritization, and execution skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Law required; advanced degrees or compliance certifications a plus.
