Job Title Accountant IVPay Rate Min to Mid Range $32.83 - $39.40Time Type Full timeSummary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide primary fiscal support to departments and offices on assigned grants, donations and corporations • Reviews and processes invoices; • Prepares and files on-line monthly reimbursement requests and monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reports; • Monthly / annual entry of journal entries; • Reconciles books to the County Financial System at fiscal year end closing and at grant year-end closing for individual grants; • Prepares analysis of various grants, loans and accounts receivable; • Compiles documents to aid external auditors with annual audits; • Prepares monthly financial statements for the Bexar County corporations; • Confirms bonds outstanding balances for the Bexar County Housing Finance Corporation and Bexar County Health Facilities Development Corporation; • Prepares statements to bill local entity grantees for monthly salary, fringe benefits and miscellaneous charges allowed by the grant contract; • Researches and solves problems of grant transactions; • Works with offices and departments and vendors concerning grant issues; • May conduct monitoring visits to various grant sub-recipients; • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or closely related field and five years experience in accounting, finance or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and procedures to include federal and state regulations (2 CFR 200 Uniform Administrative Requirements) that pertain to grants. • Skill in problem solving, decision making and maintaining accurate and detailed records. • Ability to operate personal computer, peripherals and basic office equipment. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; and to establish/maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, County officials, County employees, grantors and the general public. • Ability to read and interpret contracts • Physical requirements include occasional lifting/carrying of 5-10 lbs.; visual acuity, speech, and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate computer keyboard.
