About this role

Summary The Faith Justice Fellow is a community engagement leadership position within the Department of Ministry & Community Outreach. The Fellow is matched with a Ministry & Community Outreach community partner for the academic year to practically address social justice issues, promote service and community engagement on campus, and support University-wide Days of Service and other service- or justice-related programs. The Fellow also champions intentional reflection in Ministry & Community Outreach programming and throughout the University, with a focus on spirituality, solidarity, service, and social justice.

Essential Functions

• Work with a Ministry & Community Outreach community partner to practice advocacy, address social justice issues, and engage in reflection through an independent project agreed upon by Ministry & Community Outreach, the community partner, and the Fellow.

• Present the independent project at the Year-End Student Engagement Awards Poster Presentation Session.

• Promote service and issue awareness on campus through GivePulse, regular tabling, classroom presentations, and other marketing or programmatic opportunities that support student well-being and engagement in the local community.

• Support the planning, execution, and evaluation of University-wide Days of Service throughout the academic year, including recruitment, promotion, logistics, set-up, organization, facilitation, and assessment.

• Participate in regular reflection, formation, and leadership development opportunities connected to service, justice, spirituality, and solidarity.

• Collaborate professionally with campus partners, community partners, students, staff, and other stakeholders to support meaningful service and justice programming.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Must be currently enrolled as a Barry University student

• Must be in good academic standing

• Must be able to dedicate approximately 10 hours per week during the academic year.

• Interest in service, justice, advocacy, community engagement, ministry, care for others, or faith-related experiences such as retreats and reflection.

• Ability to work with community partners and campus stakeholders in a professional, respectful, and collaborative manner.

• Ability to plan, organize, and track tasks to meet deadlines while coordinating with team members.

• Basic proficiency with common computer applications and digital platforms, including tools used to promote and track service opportunities.

• Ability to perform routine administrative tasks, maintain records, and demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail.

• Clear and professional written and oral communication skills.

• Commitment to furthering the University mission through social justice and collaborative service.

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 10
