Brookings Health System is looking for an experienced professional to fill the position as the Director – Wound Care.

SUMMARY The Wound Care Director provides leadership and oversight for the clinical, operational, fiscal, and staffing functions of the wound care, foot care and hyperbaric medicine programs to ensure high-quality patient care, efficient operations, regulatory compliance, and continuous financial and performance improvement.

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Direct and oversee clinical, operational, and administrative activities of the wound care and hyperbaric medicine program

• Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational requirements

• Lead staff performance management, scheduling, payroll accountability, and productivity oversight

• Manage program finances, reimbursement optimization, quality outcomes, and process improvement initiatives

• Provide direct patient care as needed and within scope of practice

• Identify patients who meet clinical criteria for hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy based on established guidelines

• Monitor clinical quality indicators, patient outcomes, and experience metrics

• Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary teams to ensure evidence-based care Ensure complete, accurate documentation to support medical necessity and payer requirements

• Work collaboratively with billing and revenue cycle teams to maximize reimbursement and minimize denials

• Coordinate insurance authorization processes for wound care and hyperbaric services

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Directly supervises up to 10 staff, including clinical and support personnel

• Responsible for hiring, onboarding, orientation, training, and competency validation

• Conducts performance evaluations and provides coaching and corrective action

• Ensures staff licensure, certification, and compliance with policies

QUALIFICATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERICENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in healthcare, business, or related field required

• Registered Nurse (RN) preferred if providing direct patient care

• Hyperbaric Medicine Introductory Certification required or obtained within designated timeframe

• Knowledge of wound care standards, hyperbaric medicine principles, utilization management, and reimbursement processes
