• Maintains departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
• Cultivates good relations with patients, medical staff, laboratory peers, other hospital departments, and facilities that utilize services.
• Answers telephones, routes callers, takes messages, and provides routine information to callers.
• Establishes and maintains files and records, retrieving data in a timely manner.
• Coordinates outpatient collections efficiently.
• Receives and properly orders Physician Orders into LIS and maintains Physician Standing Orders.
• Assists in routing patient reports to physicians’ offices and other healthcare agencies via mail or fax and nursing care areas.
• Understands clients and related insurance information concerning Admissions Module.
• Assists in maintaining reference lab records accurately.
• Reverts to manual system if LIS is down to ensure continuity.
• Sorts and distributes incoming mail promptly.
• Assists with departmental office supply orders to ensure adequate inventory.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Must have the knowledge and skills necessary to address age appropriate considerations relating to the communication and safety needs of the patient populations served within the department [Required]

• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]

Pay Range:
