About this role
Sales Administrator — M-KOPA South AfricaSales teams run on trust — trust that commissions will be accurate, that queries won't disappear into a black hole, that training is actually landing, and that information flows cleanly between the people selling and the teams supporting them. When that trust breaks down, performance follows.
You probably already know this. You've worked in a sales environment. You've seen what happens when the back office is strong and what happens when it isn't. And if you're honest, you've probably been the person who kept things moving when no one else had the bandwidth to.
M-KOPA is hiring a Sales Administrator in Johannesburg — and this role is for the person who understands that great sales operations are built as much in the spreadsheet and the inbox as they are in the field.
What M-KOPA is building
We've served more than 7 million customers across Africa, unlocking over $2 billion in credit — with 55% of our customers accessing formal financial services for the very first time. 86% report a meaningful improvement in their quality of life. We're growing toward 10 million customers, and South Africa is a key market in that journey. Underpinning all of it is a field sales force of thousands of agents — and the operational infrastructure that keeps them productive, paid accurately, and supported.
That's where this role sits.
What the work actually looks like
At the centre of this role is sales commissions management — tracking, validating, and ensuring agents are paid accurately and on time. When discrepancies arise (and in any large sales operation, they do), you'll work with finance and sales teams to resolve them quickly and document the outcome properly. You'll maintain the sales records database that makes all of this possible — because clean data is the foundation everything else is built on.
You'll also be the coordination point for service queries raised by the sales team — fielding issues, liaising with technical teams, and making sure agents aren't left waiting for answers that affect their ability to do their jobs. In a field sales environment, speed of resolution matters. Agents notice when support is slow, and they notice when it isn't.
Communication is a consistent thread through this role. You'll manage promotional messaging to the sales team, facilitate alignment between trainers and field teams, and coordinate with business stakeholders on ad hoc projects that improve how sales operations run. You'll prepare periodic reports on sales performance, commission payments, and key metrics — and you'll maintain the records that give leadership the data they need to make informed decisions.
There's a quality assurance dimension too. You'll conduct quality checks on training sessions through video reviews, provide feedback to trainers, and ensure that what's being delivered in training actually reflects M-KOPA's standards and objectives. This isn't a passive function — it requires attention, judgment, and the ability to give clear, constructive feedback.
What makes you ready for this
Demonstrable experience in sales administration, sales support, or a related coordination role — with a track record of managing commissions, resolving discrepancies, and maintaining accurate sales records in a fast-moving environment
Solid proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite — particularly Excel — alongside experience with sales management or CRM software, and the organisational discipline to manage multiple reporting and tracking responsibilities simultaneously
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively across sales teams, finance, trainers, and business stakeholders — and the attention to detail that keeps commission records and reporting accurate under pressure
A candid note on pace
M-KOPA moves fast. The sales environment is high-volume, the agent queries are constant, and the reporting rhythms are non-negotiable. This role rewards people who are organised enough to stay on top of competing priorities, resilient enough to resolve issues without escalating everything, and proactive enough to spot something drifting before it becomes a problem. If that sounds like how you already work, you'll fit in quickly.
Why this role matters
It's easy to underestimate a sales administration role. Don't. Every commission that's paid correctly keeps an agent motivated. Every training session that's properly quality-checked keeps a new recruit performing to standard. Every query resolved quickly keeps a Field Sales Manager focused on the field instead of chasing internal support. The cumulative effect of all of it — done well, consistently — is a sales force that delivers. And at M-KOPA, a sales force that delivers means thousands more customers accessing financial services that improve their lives.
That's not abstract. It's what the numbers show: 86% of M-KOPA's customers report a better quality of life. Your work is part of the infrastructure that makes that possible.
If you're a detail-oriented, organised professional who thrives in a sales environment and wants to be part of something genuinely impactful — this is worth your attention.
