About this role

Job summary

Due to a successful application to NHS England for funding to support Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) leadership across Dorset, Somerset and BSW we are looking to recruit a registered Health Care Professional to embed clinical leadership and drive a coordinated, cross-System approach to AMR. The postholder will lead improvement efforts across the ICB Cluster with focused priorities for each existing ICB footprint based on available data.

We are looking for a senior clinical leader with experience in infection management, antimicrobial stewardship or infection prevention and management with a proven ability to lead a cross-sector improvement initiative.

This is a part-time post of up to 18.75 hours per week. The post holder will be required to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service

This is a fixed term role and for those with current NHS service, the role will be offered on a secondment basis only. Please obtain permission to be released on a secondment before submitting an application.

Main duties of the job

Develop key AMR priorities for each current System, aligning to a Cluster approach where possible.

Use national and local data to identify outlier trends and target interventions.

Drive collaboration across primary care, secondary care, community and mental health, UKSHA, Public Health, councils, etc. for a multi-sector approach to Infection, Prevention and Management.

Improve prescribing practices, but also support initiatives to prevent infections in the context of 'Infection Prevention and Management (IPM)'.

Implement a governance structure for IPM and AMR across the Cluster.

Report to the ICB Board and to NHS England with regards to progress.

To ensure formal national reporting of the project to the NHS AMR Board agreed with the NHS England Project Team. A quarterly highlight report will need to be submitted by the ICB to the NHS Engalnd AMR contral team to enable this.

Knowledge, Skills and Training Essential

Registered health care practitioner Relevant full Masters degree Exceptional proven leadership skills Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and professional accountability

Working towards PhD or showing active engagement in research

Job Specific Experience Essential

Evidence of experience in effective leadership and risk management, demonstrating competency in the 9 leadership dimensions of the Healthcare Leadership Model Practical experience of transformational and change management Experience of working at strategic level Able to demonstrate innovation and effective use of resources

Desirable

Substantial experience in an antimicrobial resistance related area for example infection management, infection prevention and control or antimicrobial stewardship Experience of undertaking high level investigations or external reviews in relation to Antimicrobial Resistance Proven track record of strategic planning with NHS and partner organisations

Managerial/Supervisory Experience Essential

Experience of operational management or senior management in a corporate governance setting at Band 8a or equivalent or above in health or social care Experience of working effectively across organisational and professional boundaries in complex organisations
