Position Details Position Status: Temporary Part Time Term Ends April 05, 2027 Location: Colonel Belcher, Complex Continuing Care (1st Floor) BW Hours: 54.25 FTE: 0.70 Shift: Evenings Shift Times: 1300-2115 Union: CUPE GSS Rate of Pay: $25.46 - $30.13 PCN: tmpCB1stMHSW2 Date Competition Closes: March 19, 2026 The Opportunity Position Summary: Reporting directly to the Director of Care, and under the direct or indirect supervision of the Occupational Therapist, Social Worker or other assigned Regulated staff, the Mental Health Support Worker is an unregulated member of the interdisciplinary team who provides on-going encouragement and support to clients with complex mental health, behavioural and/or addiction diagnoses. The Mental Health Support Worker observes, monitors and reports on client status/condition including changes in mental, emotional and general physical status. The Mental Health Support Worker ensures that changes in client status are reported to the assigned Regulated staff member. In keeping with Carewest’s Frame of Reference, Philosophy of Care and Carewest policies this position maintains professional and ethical standards at all times. Responsible for other related duties as required. Program Summary: Complex Mental Health Care – a program providing comprehensive care for adults with complex behaviours, whose primary diagnosis includes mental illness, dementia or other cognitive disorders. Qualifications & Experience: - Diploma or degree from a health or disability related field is required. - Equivalent combination of education, skills and experience may be considered. - Ability to read, write, understand and communicate effectively in English is required. - Minimum of 2 years experience working with mental health clients.
