About this role
We are looking for a mechanical engineer who has either welding or coating experience to support mechanical engineering activities on-site, applying technical knowledge in welding or coating. Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards, support installation/construction activities, and work collaboratively with site teams.
Requirements:
At least 3 years of straight welding/coating experience (CSWIP for Welding)Industrial experience, preferably within nuclear or heavy engineeringKnowledge of ASME or relevant codesUnderstanding of construction/installation processesKnowledge of Health & Safety, CDM, Nuclear Site License requirementsStrong stakeholder engagement, proactive, able to work independentlyKey Responsibilities
Apply mechanical engineering expertise to support site welding or coating operationsEnsure compliance with relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME for welding, recognised coating standards)Review installation plans and provide technical guidance to site teamsIdentify, escalate, and support resolution of technical issues or safety concernsCollaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders on siteContribute to quality assurance and continuous improvement initiativesPrepare and maintain documentation related to welding or coating activitiesSupport inspection, testing, and sign-off processes where required Required Skills:
CSWIP or coating certificationsIndustrial experience, preferably within nuclear, heavy engineering, or complex construction projectsKnowledge of construction/installation processes and site operationsUnderstanding of Health & Safety, CDM regulations, and Nuclear Site License requirementsAbility to work independently, be proactive, and escalate issues appropriatelyStrong communication skills and ability to influence stakeholdersRequired Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.Desirable Skills:
