About this role
Come join our team in Bedfordshire as a Senior Electronics Engineer, where you’ll play a key role in delivering high‑reliability, safety‑critical electronic systems for one of ALTEN’s major defence and aerospace programmes. You’ll be part of a specialist engineering team working on complex, cutting‑edge technology with real‑world impact.
This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys technical ownership, detailed design work, and contributing to mission‑critical programmes in a fast‑paced environment.
Location: 3x onsite On Site: Bedford Clearance: Not requiredExperience Level: Mid - Senior Key Responsibilities:
Lead electronic hardware development across the full lifecycle, from requirements capture through to production releaseCarry out detailed design work for digital, mixed‑signal, application processor, FPGA‑based, and high‑reliability systemsReview and approve schematics, PCB layouts, component selections, and supporting documentationProvide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineersMaintain compliance with DO‑254 processes and ensure robust design assurance and verification traceabilitySupport configuration control, verification, and validation activitiesWork collaboratively with Systems, Software, Mechanical, Test, and Programme Management teamsContribute to planning, bid activity, cost estimation, and project reportingManage priorities, risks, and dependencies across multiple concurrent projects Required Skills:
Strong project and programme management experience5+ years’ experience in electronics hardware design (digital and mixed‑signal)Proven experience designing to DO‑254 standardsMinimum 1 year of wiring and PCB rework experienceSignificant expertise in detailed electronics hardware designStrong understanding of electronics manufacturing processesExcellent attention to detail and a process‑driven approachAbility to interpret legislation and implement compliant processesStrong organisational, communication, and time‑management skillsAdaptable, proactive, and comfortable working across multiple projectsRequired Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.Desirable Skills:
