About this role

Eurofins USA PSS Insourcing Solutions is seeking a Scientist – Biocatalysis & Enzymatic Process Development to support a client‑based research program in applied biocatalysis. In this role, you will leverage enzymatic transformations to prepare chiral intermediates and optimize reaction conditions that accelerate chemical and process development.

The successful candidate will take ownership of research projects under the guidance of subject matter experts, contribute to method and process optimization, and generate high‑quality scientific documentation while adhering to laboratory safety and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

Execute enzymatic reactions to synthesize chiral intermediates and isolate high‑purity productsOptimize biocatalytic reactions for efficiency, selectivity, and scalabilityDevelop and implement enzyme activity assays and kinetic evaluationsPerform high‑throughput experimentation, including enzyme plate preparation and enzyme immobilization on solid supportsConduct chiral and analytical characterization using UPLC and GC, and structural confirmation using NMR and MSAnalyze and interpret experimental data with scientific rigorMaintain accurate and compliant electronic laboratory notebook (ELN) recordsPrepare experimental protocols, technical reports, and presentations for internal stakeholdersPerform routine laboratory equipment maintenance and support general laboratory operations as neededFollow all safety, compliance, and quality procedures in the laboratory environment Minimum Qualifications

PhD in Chemistry, Biocatalysis, Biochemistry, or a closely related scientific discipline is requiredStrong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary teamDemonstrated ability to adapt quickly to evolving project priorities and timelinesHighly self‑motivated, organized, detail‑oriented, and proactive in problem‑solvingPreferred Qualifications

2+ years of laboratory experience in biocatalysis, enzyme‑catalyzed reactions, enzyme kinetics, protein engineering, photo‑biocatalysis, fermentation, enzyme immobilization, or assay development (preferred but not required)Hands‑on experience with analytical techniques and instrumentation such as HPLC/UPLC, GC, Karl Fischer, NMR, and MSExperience with chromatography and chiral separations is a plusFamiliarity with pharmaceutical development environments and cGMP principles is a plus Position is Full Time, Monday – Friday, First Shift.
